Minutes for Meeting of November 14, 2011
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, November 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Erin Collopy, Nelson Dometrius, Art Durband, David Lamp, Chris
Monico, Philip Pope, and David Roach. Presenters: Drs. Barrick, Yoshinobu (Geosciences), and Dr.
Paine (Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work).
1. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from the Department of Geosciences:
Delete GEOL 3102 Field Methods Structural Geology.
Delete GEOL 3302 Structural Geology.
2. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposals from the Department of Geosciences:
Add ATMO 4312 Undergraduate Research.
Add GEOL 3402 Structural Geology.
Change title and description of GPH 4323 Applied Electrical Methods.
Change title and description of GPH 5323 Advanced Non-Seismic Exploration Methods.
3. Pending further information, the committee voted to table the following proposals from the
Department of Geosciences:
Change prefix, title, and description for GPH 3310 Quantitative Methods in Geology.
Change prefix, number, title, and description for GPH 5310 Quantitative Methods in
Geology.
4. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposals from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work:
Add ANTH 2308 Forensic Sciences.
Add ANTH 4320 Forensic Archaeology.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, November 28, for proposals
that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, November 21. Please note: Starting this
semester, ASCAP will begin accepting hard or electronic copies of course proposal submissions.
