Minutes for Meeting of October 15, 2012
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, October 15 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Gretchen Adams, Erin Collopy, Miles Condon, Nelson Dometrius,
Art Durband, David Lamp, Chris Monico, and David Roach. Presenters: Drs. Pearce and Neusel
(Mathematics and Statistics), Dr. Zaier (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures), and Dr. Dunham
(Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work).
1. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposal from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics:
 Add MATH 4324 Topology.
2. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposal from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
 Add ARAB 3301 Advanced Arabic Conversation.
3. The committee recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the
Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work:
 Change title and description for SOC 3324 American Minority Problems.
4. The committee recommended to table the following core proposals from the Department of
Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work in view of needed revisions:
 SOC 1320 Current Social Problems.
 SOC 2325 Gendered Lives.
 SOC 3324 American Minority Problems.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, October 29, for proposals that
reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, October 22.
