College of Arts and Sciences Committee on Academic Programs (ASCAP) Minutes for Meeting of January 25, 2010 A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, January 25 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee members present were: Jim Clopton, Ram Iyer, Jerry Koch, Rich Rice, Anthony Qualin, and David Roach. Presenters were: Alan Barenberg (History), Brett Houk, Martha Smithey, and Jeff Williams (Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work). 1. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the Department of History: • Change HIST 3373 Revolutionary Russia, 1894-1924 to HIST 4379 Revolutionary Russia. Change Description. 2. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work: • Add ANTH 2306 Anthropology at the Movies. • Add SOC 2335 Homicide. • Add SOC 3226 Women and Crime. • • • Delete ANTH 3323 Religion and Culture. Delete ANTH 3325 Anthropological Folklore. Delete ANTH 3351 Language and Culture. • Add ANTH 2306 Anthropology at the Movies to the list of courses that fulfill the Humanities requirement in the TTU Core Curriculum. Add SOC 2335 Homicide to the list of courses that fulfill the Social and Behavioral Sciences requirement in the TTU Core Curriculum. • 3. The committee voted against recommending the following proposal from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work: • Add SOC 3326 Women and Crime to the list of courses that fulfill the Social and Behavioral Sciences requirement in the TTU Core Curriculum. The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, February 8, for proposals that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, February 1.
