Minutes for Meeting of November 25, 2013
A meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, November 25 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee members
present were: Gretchen Adams, Jim Barrick, Scott Baugh, Nelson Dometrius, Art Durband, Matt Olson, Travis
Roach, and David Roach. Presenters: Drs. Byerly and Neusel (Mathematics), Dr. Barnes and Celeste Yoshinobu
(Geosciences), Dr. Zhang (Biology), and Dr. Jordan (Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work).

Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposals from the Department of Mathematics:
 Change title and description for Math 5101 Seminar in Mathematics.
 Delete Math 5102 Seminar in Analysis.
 Delete Math 5103 Seminar in Control Theory.
 Delete Math 5105 Seminar in Topology.
 Delete Math 5106 Seminar in Applied Mathematics.
 Delete Math 5107 Seminar in Biomathematics.

Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposals from the Department of Geosciences:
 Change number for GEOL 3305 Structural Analysis.
 Add GEOL 3324 Geology for Petroleum Engineers.

Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposals from the Department of Biology:
 Add Biology 6420 Advanced Experimental Cell Biology.
 Change title and description for BIOL 5303 Advanced Experimental Cell Biology.
4.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposals from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work:
 Add ANTH 3320 Material Culture.
 Add ANTH 3335 Anthropology of Plains Indians.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, December 9, for proposals that reach the
committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, December 2.
