T HE F IFTH S UNDAY OF L ENT – M A R C H 25, 2012
THE READINGS FOR PALM SUNDAY OF THE LORD’S PASSION ARE:
MK. 11: 1-10
IS. 50: 1-7
MK. 14: 15:47
THE EXAMEN
During this Lenten season, there will be an Examination of Consciousness following Communion. The “Examen”
is at the heart of Ignatian prayer and we hope that this Spiritual Exercise during Lent will enrich your prayer and
reflection. The Examen questions for the Fifth Sunday of Lent are listed below. In the tradition of Ignatius, we
open our hearts and minds to God’s loving guidance through the spirit of Jesus Christ. Together let us reflect on
our day with God as our guide and Jesus walking beside us.
THE FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
Lord, we realize that everything, even ourselves, is a gift from you.
How have you shared in the gift of God’s forgiveness?
Lord, open our eyes and ears to be more honest with ourselves.
How is God creating a clean heart in you?
Lord, show us what has been happening to us and in us this day.
How is Jesus lifting you up and drawing you to himself today?
Lord, we are still learning to grow in your love.
When has self-centeredness kept you from living in God’s love?
Lord, let us look with longing toward the future.
How can you love and serve the Lord and others this Lent?

PLAY TIME!
The bid is in, so it is time to raise money to build the playground at St. Anne's Church in
Jamaica. We are looking for anyone interested or experienced in fundraising. We need to raise $25,000.00 to
make this dream a reality for the St. Anne's community. All children deserve a clean and safe place to play. Please
contact Ginny Galeota at ginnygaleota@yahoo.com or Portia Durbin at durbinpc@comcast.net if you are interested in
becoming part of this exciting venture.

“GETTING (AND ACING) THE INTERVIEW: WHAT I LEARNED FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE INTERVIEW TABLE”.
April 11th – Wednesday after Easter at 7:15 PM in the Friary Room - Kevin Meme, a St. Ignatius parishioner and
member of the Parish Pastoral Council, is a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, one of the world's
leading management consulting firms. In his recruiting role at BCG, Kevin interviews candidates experiencing one
of the most rigorous application processes in the corporate world—a process he went through himself as an
interviewee. Kevin also has extensive experience in various interview settings, for institutions ranging from nonprofits, to Ivy League business schools, to the federal government and Google. He looks forward to sharing the
perspectives he has gained from "both sides of the table" as an interviewee and interviewer. Some topics to be
covered are: getting the interview, preparing for telephone interviews, screening of resumes, and questions during
the interview, etc. There will be time for Q & A.
These events will be held in the Friary Room. All are welcome!
ST. IGNATIUS COOKBOOKS FOR SALE!
During the last months of 2011, St. Ignatius Faith Formation families compiled family recipes that are
relatively easy to make, to allow families to spend more time together during Lent. The cookbooks are
a fundraiser to help the parish to build a playground at St. Anne’s in Jamaica, and are on sale for $15. If you are
interested in purchasing a copy, email Amy Chapman at chapmaab@bc.edu or call 617.552.6103. You can also stop

OPERATION RICE BOWL: WEEK FIVE
Catholic Social Teaching Focus: Option for the Poor
As a community of faith, we have the obligation to reach out to those most in need. The Gospel
specifically calls us to take action on behalf of the most vulnerable members of society.
In India, CRS’ health programs target mothers and their children, who are often the poorest and
most vulnerable members of society. CRS trains and works with health workers to advise women on ways to
stay healthy and keep their children well-nourished.
