T HE F OURTH S UNDAY OF L ENT – M A R C H 18, 2012 THE READINGS FOR THE FIFTH OF SUNDAY OF LENT ARE: HEB. 5: 7-9 ROM. 8: 8-11 JN. 11: 3-7 THE EXAMEN During this Lenten season, there will be an Examination of Consciousness following communion. The “Examen” is at the heart of Ignatian prayer and we hope that this Spiritual Exercise during Lent will enrich your prayer and reflection. The Examen questions for the Fourth Sunday of Lent are listed below. In the tradition of Ignatius, we open our hearts and minds to God’s loving guidance through the spirit of Jesus Christ. Together let us reflect on our day with God as our guide and Jesus walking beside us. THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT Lord, we realize that everything, even ourselves, is a gift from you. In what ways do you see yourself as part of God’s handiwork? Lord, open our eyes and ears to be more honest with ourselves. How has God’s light illuminated your darkness? Lord, show us what has been happening to us and in us this day. How is God’s Spirit working within you today? Lord, we are still learning to grow in your love. How can you participate more fully in building the Kingdom of God? Lord, let us look with longing toward the future. How can you love and serve the Lord and others this Lent?
