T HE S ECOND S UNDAY OF L ENT – M A R C H 4, 2012
THE READINGS FOR THE THIRD OF SUNDAY OF LENT ARE:
EX. 20: 1-17
1COR. 1: 22-25
JN. 2: 13-25
THE EXAMEN
During this Lenten season, there will be an Examination of Consciousness following communion. The “Examen”
is at the heart of Ignatian prayer and we hope that this Spiritual Exercise during Lent will enrich your prayer and
reflection. The Examen questions for the Second Sunday of Lent are listed below. In the tradition of Ignatius we
open our hearts and minds to God’s loving guidance through the spirit of Jesus Christ. Together let us reflect on
our day with God as our guide and Jesus walking beside us.
THE SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT
Lord, we realize that everything, even ourselves, is a gift from you.
How has God shown His support for you today?
Lord, open our eyes and ears to be more honest with ourselves.
What graces do you need to follow the Lord more closely this Lent?
Lord, show us what has been happening to us and in us this day.
Where and in whose face have you seen God today?
Lord, we are still learning to grow in your love.
What has prevented you from listening to the Lord today?
Lord, let us look with longing toward the future.
How can you love and serve the Lord and others this Lent?
NOVENA OF GRACE in honor of St. Francis Xavier will begin Sunday, March 4 thru March 12th. Copies of the
Novena prayers are available on the table in the Gathering Space in the Upper Church and the Lannon Chapel.
The prayers will be said Monday thru Friday at the 12:15 pm and 5:30 pm Masses.

All humanity has been made in the image of God. Through our actions we must
express that each person is precious and that the lives and welfare of all people are

In Vietnam, CRS supports the Inclusion of Vietnamese with Disabilities program, which provides
access to quality education to children with disabilities who may otherwise not have received
education at all. The program recognizes the inherent dignity and uniqueness of each person and
demonstrates that quality education must be a priority for all people.
