DGC Meeting 12_05_2013
Meeting Notes:




Exit Code and PLA work status update – discussed with IC and WSSSC November 25, 2013.
 Reminder to inform your commissions and councils of this activity during winter meetings.
 Power point feedback – there was no feedback or issues with the ppt. This is available for Data
Governors to use when presenting to commissions and others.
Academic Program Codes - should we proceed with this?
1 to 1 relationship (1 code per 1 academic program)
Would be nice if same codes (making it easier for staff)
Schools may already have academic code – if so it is a change of coding for staff
If schools are not using an academic code then it is a coding and business process change
 Registration
 Advising
 Financial aid
Benefits:
 Forces everyone to make a business process change now (it has to happen when we go to
PS) and gets this one out of the way.
 Allows the college to track what programs (the specific academic degree) students are
actually pursuing.
 Academic transfer students will have data in PS (instead of being blank).
DTA’s are system wide. Colleges may propose but go through SBCTC approval and it becomes a
system degree.
Would we back fill the codes, or just change them going forward?
Collaboration Worksite - Russ, status update – ready for RPC by the end of the month.
Communication Map - current state analysis. Meeting rescheduled to January. Looking at strengths
and challenges of current communication around coding.
Susan attempted to use Blackboard Collaborate to show the agenda and documents that were being
discussed. Overall, members thought it could be helpful after some issues are worked out. Susan will
do some additional training and attempt again at the January meeting. There was discussion about why
Collaborate and not WebEx. SBCTC has a license for colleges to use Collaborate, WebEx is something
Ciber has for ctcLink.
