DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES For Reference Only CLASS CODE: 2128 PAY GRADE: 426 CLASS TITLE: NETWORK SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR - SES ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is technical and administrative work directing the planning, designing, monitoring and integration of enterprise networks and other telecommunications systems, including the design and implementation of wide area networks, VPNs, firewall solutions, and large-scale intrusion detection. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets. Examples of work performed are not to be used for allocation purposes.) Directs assigned personnel in the planning, scheduling and implementation of an enterprise network system. Consults with program management, enterprise management and other information technology administrators to determine business needs and to define enterprise network solutions to meet business requirements. Provides long range planning of network/telecommunications systems for upper level management. Determines budgetary requirements for network/ telecommunications systems. Serves as contracts administrator for networks/ telecommunications projects. Determines staffing needed to insure necessary resources are applied to enterprise network functions. Designs and configures an enterprise environment with appropriate hardware, operating systems software, applications software, and communications components to support business requirements. Conducts research and development in network systems and related technologies. Establishes methods and procedures for use of the network systems including hardware, software, and communications devices. 2128-NETWORK SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR-SES Ensures the enterprise network plan is consistent with agency objectives and is compatible with existing applications and security requirements. Coordinates and ensures the standard implementation of policies, procedures and systems operations with support personnel. Evaluates network software and hardware. Conducts on-going network system audits to evaluate the utility and efficiency of the system's hardware, software, and communications components and the effectiveness in meeting management information needs. Performs related work as required.
