We are told in verse 5 to clothe ourselves with humility. This is also one of several attributes that are listed in Colossians 3:12. What do these attributes have in common and how do they work together? Connect Share an incident when a prideful person was cut down to size and how you felt. Review What point from this Sunday’s message and Bible verses caught your attention or challenged you? Explore 1. The second sentence in 1 Peter 5:5 talks about humility and pride. Why is pride such an important theme in the Bible? (See for example 2 Chronicles 32:25, Proverbs 11:2, Luke 18:9-14 and Romans 12:16.) 2. What are some evidences that pride is at work in our lives and relationships? How can we defeat it? 4. What does 1 Peter 5:6 teach about God’s plan for our life and our participation in this plan? (See also Proverbs 19:21 and James 4:13-15.) 5. Describe some of the ways we can throw our anxieties over to God (verse 7). How effective have you found this to be?
