 To attend class regularly.
 To be cooperative and not disruptive.
 To study and do your work. (EFFORT = SUCCESS)
 To learn and master the required content.

RESPECT is the number one rule in this classroom. Respect your materials, your instructor
and others around you. You are responsible for your actions as well as your work.

Notebook with perforated edges for homework assignments. Messy edges will not be

not be allowed to share calculators, you must have your own. I have a few scientific
classroom calculators, but not enough for every student.
Pencils – all homework, quizzes and tests must be completed with a pencil. Pen, ink,
highlighters or markers will not be accepted.
You must bring all of your supplies to class every day; this includes paper, pencil, etc.
Detention will be given to unprepared students.
EXPECTATIONS AND GRADING SCALE
There are many expectations of you as a student in this class. These expectations go beyond
covering the course material. Important components of this course also include working as a
member of a group, creativity, communication, analysis skills, and managing yourself to
complete large projects. All of these skills will be very valuable in your future, and thus will
be very valuable in this class.

Your grade in this course will be based on all of the following areas of assessment.
Weighted the following: Homework – 20%, Quizzes – 30%, Tests – 50%.
HOMEWORK – We will have many homework assignments. All homework assignments
will be posted in the classroom and on my CEHS website. Homework is due at the
beginning of your class mod. Late homework is not accepted. If you are sick you have that
many days to make-up your work. For example, a student who is sick for two days has two
extra days to turn in makeup work. You will receive (1) Homework pass for each 9-week
period. The passes are only valid for their current period.
PROJECTS – We will work on several in-class projects. You may be responsible for
presentations or reports as a member of a team. Projects will be combined with homework
for the weighted grade.
QUIZZES – There will be short quizzes throughout this course. All quizzes and tests will be
announced in advance.
TESTS – There will be tests over the material learned throughout this course.
EXTRA CREDIT –Extra credit projects will only be accepted from those students that have
achieved all of the requirements of this course, this includes turning in all homework
assignments on time and taking all quizzes and tests. You will have an opportunity each
nine-week period to complete an extra credit project. I do give random extra credit points
for some classroom participation (this will be at my discretion).
EXTRA CREDIT IS:
 A way to demonstrate your abilities to exceed the requirements of this class.
 A way to get extra practice on topics in this class.
 Problems and projects which take a substantial amount of outside class time to
complete.
 A way for hard-working, motivated students to demonstrate that their grades deserve
to be raised.
EXTRA CREDIT IS NOT:
 Easy work or busy work.
 Something you can do at the last minute.
 A way to make up for slacking off during the grading period.
 Something to rely on when you finally realize you needed to work harder.
If you have any questions at any time concerning these items, please let me know. I can be
reached via email at sublettet@bcsc.k12.in.us or by phone at 376-4348.
I truly believe that every student can succeed, if they are willing to work to achieve.
I look forward to meeting all parents at the East Open House on Thursday, August 19th
from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
I have received a copy of Mrs. Sublette’s Welcome to Algebra page including Class Rules
and Regulations, Grading Scale and Expectations. I understand these rules and will
contact Mrs. Sublette if any questions should arise.
