RESEARCH PROFESSIONAL NURSES SOUTH AFRICAN TUBERCULOSIS VACCINE INITIATIVE (SATVI) INSTITUTE OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE AND MOLECULAR MEDICINE (IIDMM) FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES The South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative (SATVI), located within the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IIDMM), UCT, is involved in novel TB vaccine research. Our field site is based in Worcester, approximately 100km outside of Cape Town. We are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates with an interest in health and research for immediate appointment to 3 (1-year) and 2 (2-year) full-time or part-time Worcester-based contract posts, with the potential for renewal. We are looking for Professional Nurses to join our dynamic research team. Flexibility with regard to standby may be required, depending on the project needs. As a Research Nurse you will be involved in various research activities related to Tuberculosis in adults and children. The Research Nurse will assist in the maintenance of the integrity of the study goals through the recruitment and care of the clinical trial participants, collection of specimens and data. Essential requirements include: A senior certificate (Grade 12) Fluency in English, as well as either Afrikaans or IsiXhosa (or both) Qualification as a Professional Nurse Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) A valid driver’s license Paediatric experience, knowledge of TB and HIV and of the Boland Overberg district, residency in Worcester and previous research experience will be advantageous. The annual remuneration is in the range R126 488 - R200 452, depending on skills and experience.
