CONSULTANT (PRINCIPAL SCIENTIFIC OFFICER)
Three year contract position

The Department of Statistical Sciences invites applications from highly motivated and dedicated individuals for
appointment as a Statistical Consultant to assist in the provision of a consultancy service (statistical support) to the
Science Faculty and the wider UCT community, as well as to external clients.
Responsibilities:

Providing advice and assistance to clients in planning/design of research; data management; statistical
analysis and interpretation; management and supervision of statistical work.
Requirements:

A minimum of a master’s degree in Statistics or equivalent field

At least two years relevant work experience

High level of proficiency in statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS, GENSTAT, STATISTICA, STATA, or similar)

Sound computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheet and internet)

Well-developed and professional interpersonal and communication skills

Effective time-management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task

Good organizational skills

Ability to work independently
The annual remuneration package, including benefits for 2013, is between R397 308 and R467 410
Relevant qualifications and experience will be taken into account in determining the package.
