Hang tutu’s upside down to get the maximum fluff.
Hang your costumes, don’t fold or leave in a bag.
Do not iron or wash the costumes. Let gravity and humidity pull out the wrinkles.
If by recital your costume is still wrinkly, then you can steam it. Need help? Bring it in, we’ll let you
steam it here with our steamer. Costumes will melt so be careful.
Do not play in your costume until after all of the recitals.
Carry costumes in a protective cover to picture day and rehearsals.
Do not wear costumes in the car! Car seats are not friendly to delicate costumes.
Do not eat or drink while in your costume!
Find a cover up now – you will need it on Recital day. Robes or a big shirt work great.
Recital tights:
Buy tights $8.00, you can pay at the front desk. Always good to have one extra pair.
 Tights are Revolution Brand, Classic Pink (yes, they look skin tone ) All Classes will wear these
color tights.
 If you have black pants and black shoes you need black socks. We want a full black line at the
foot.
Shoes: You wear the dance shoes you wear during class for recital. Put your name in them and clean
them up with warm water on a cloth. Check them now to make sure they still fit too.
Hair: You may have received special instructions for hair when you tried on costumes.
Generally: Tap = Ponytail, Jazz = Ponytail or top pull back, and Ballet = Bun. You may get a hair
accessory or hat with your costume, discuss with class and teacher during costume try on.
Don’t lose your hair accessories! Pin to costume or store in baggie with costume. Please double check
for gloves, hair pieces etc.
Make up:
Blue Eye shadow, Pink Blush, Dark Rose Lipstick (not bright red) - necessary
Eyeliner and Mascara – optional, but great if you can get it on! Anyone over age 9 should wear eyeliner
and mascara. Apply make-up heavy, but not clown-like. We just want to accent our natural beauty under
the bright white stage lights. Our lighting on stage is different than picture day. Less for pictures, MORE
for stage.
A few reminders:
 NO JEWLERY, except starter earring studs if necessary.
 NO UNDERPANTS with tights
 NO Fingernail polish – or French only.
 NO GLITTER in hair, unless everyone in class uses it.
 NO Tattoos or markers on your skin
 Wipe your shoes clean with light soap and water
 Go to the bathroom before you put your costume on
 Cover ups must be worn over your costumes when in audience or halls.
Dress Rehearsal is Friday night May 15 – your class practice times are posted at the studio based on
show order. Starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Brodhead High School. You need to wear full costume, hair, make
up for this rehearsal. You may bring a no-mess dinner, but do not eat in your costume! Come into the
auditorium and wait for your class to be called back stage. You can leave after you are done practicing
with your class. We will not practice the finale’.
Recitals: Saturday May 16 at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. The show is
about 2 hours long (Sunday is a little longer). Please arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the start of the
show.

Dressing rooms available back stage for final preparations, but try to get ready at home as much
as possible.

First 7 numbers must line up behind stage at the start. All others may watch until 4 numbers
before your due on stage, then come back stage to be lined up. You must enter and exit carefully
and quietly, no running. Parents sit along the isle edges for easy exit/entry.

Please make sure to have your items labeled with your name and to clean up after you’re done in
the dressing rooms on Sunday. Parent or guardian must be at each show to supervise their
dancer.

Finale’ is at the end of each recital; all students line up in the hallways and then are escorted on
stage for a final bow. Pre-Ballet students will remain on stage with supervisors until parents pick
up on stage.
Photos will be available prior to the recital during one of your last classes. They’ll be set out for you to
pick up as soon as they are ready, within two-three weeks. If you have questions about photos contact
Bri Larsen directly.
