Course Prerequisites: Visual Arts
Lab Fee: $10.00 (due August 17th)
All students are asked to contribute $10.00 towards classroom supplies. The
county permits lab fees for courses that require specialized supplies for the class.
This fee is not mandatory, but it allows for a wider variety of quality art materials.
Checks should be made out to Cherokee High School.
BYLD: This is a BYLD classroom. Students will be able to use their learning
device to research information and images. Please use it responsibly.
Texting, Snap-chatting, etc. is not appropriate use, and will have
consequences.
Course Description:
This course covers the technicalities, history and art of photography. Students
will have access to DSLR cameras and computer software (Creative Cloud) for
image manipulation. After students develop basic skills for working the camera,
they will be allowed to check out equipment for assignments. Photography 2 will
focus on composition and artistic photography with greater expectations for
quality as well as further exploration of image manipulation.
Materials Needed:
 Memory Card (recommended 16GB or larger)
 Folder for notes and handouts
 Flash/Jump drive (for shoots)
 Personal camera (can be locked in my office) or phone camera
General Information:
 Most work will be done in class. It is very important to make up work after
an absence.
 Due to class size, students will conduct photo shoots in rotating groups.
 We will participate in various photography shows.

*Projects will be evaluated based on effort, craftsmanship, process, quality of images,
and originality.
Other factors affecting grades are attendance, critique participation, proper
management of time & equipment, and attitude.
Any significant drop in grades, behavior, or frequent absences will result in
parent contact.
Make-up procedure:
All work must be made up ASAP. You may schedule time to use the studio
& equipment before school by appointment, or after school M-Th, 3:304:30pm. If a deadline is missed, students have 10 days (as per the student
handbook) to turn in late work. 11 points (a letter grade) will be deducted each
day thereafter.
 Missed tests and quizzes can be made up on the day of your return for full credit
with an excused absence.
