Our Lady of the Rosary School Newsletter October 15, 2014 Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart Gospel Value: Peacemaker "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.” John 14:1 Dear OLR Families, As the warm days wane, we are blessed with the season of fall upon us. We can enjoy the gifts of God’s creation in the beautiful fall colors all around us. The warm days that we have experienced have energized all of our students as we celebrate All Hallows Eve, which leads us to All Saints’ Day on Nov. 1. Our energy will be put to good use this month as October is filled with so many new things to do and skills to learn! This month our talented faculty and staff launched the preliminary work for our upcoming WCEA/WASC accreditation process. This included assigning various roles to each member and as a collective group, reviewing and discussing possible revisions to our School Mission Statement, Philosophy, and Student Learning Expectations. This overall accreditation process involves the faculty, staff, administration, board members, parents, and students and the focus of our work is on the assessment of student success at OLR in our Catholic Identity, Student Learning Expectations, and mastery of students’ academic growth. We will analyze the data from our students’ academic achievement and by listening to the feedback we hear from the entire OLR community. Our work will take over one and a half year’s to complete, but we are excited about the opportunity of showing our Visiting Committee in the spring of 2016 all of the engaging work our students do at OLR! Entertainment books are on sale through the month of October. The books are $30 each and offer thousands of dollars of savings on dining, local attractions, travel, shopping, and so much more! We will be selling Entertainment books from the School Office, after masses, and online. Please see Mrs. Chacon if you need additional Entertainment books to sell or to purchase. OLR gets 50% of all sales. We ask that each family sell at least two books. Ask you relatives, neighbors, and friends if they would like to save money on a variety of activities to do around the bay area. You can also use the order form that is sent home in today’s family envelope. What a great way to support our school! Finally, enclosed in today’s family envelope are two revised pages to the handbook. Please insert these pages into your binder. The first is an updated Faculty page and the second page contains important information regarding tuition refunds.
