Direct Manager: Technical Infrastructure Services Manager
Direct Reports: Nil
Department: Infrastructure Services
Summary: Technical Infrastructure Consultants assist both OLR and its clients with their technical infrastructure requirements. This is achieved through the utilisation of knowledge of Oracle database administration, along with network and hardware systems to ensure appropriate installation, configuration, and operations of Oracle Retail application software running on underlying infrastructure components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities:
Respond to client Oracle database issues through OLR's ticketing system
Respond to critical Oracle database issues relating to OLR clients
Plan, install and maintain Oracle RDBMS instances for both OLR and its client base
Apply Oracle Database patches for both OLR and client databases as required
Perform installation and configuration of Oracle Retail application database instances
Perform installation, configuration and maintenance of web server and application server hardware and software environments for OLR and its client base
Perform installation and configuration of Oracle Retail application software
Apply Oracle Retail patches and releases as required
Perform database and hardware sizing and capacity planning for OLR clients
Assist in maintaining the OLR software development environment
Provide on-call support as needed during non-business hours for both OLR and it’s client base
Ensure that database storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning properly
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in maintaining UNIX operating systems for both OLR and its client base
Assist in defining and ensuring adherence to both Oracle Retail and OLR database standards
Assist project teams in defining software functionality and performing appropriate modifications and enhancements

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field
1+ years Oracle Database Administration
1+ years PL/SQL experience
C / C++ experience
Oracle ProC experience
UNIX (shell scripting)
Oracle database performance tuning
UNIX Administration (HPUX, AIX, Solaris) - desirable
Linux Administration - desirable
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to proactively identify and resolve issues
Good time management skills

This position requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Substantial time is spent working on a computer.

Work is performed in a regular office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
For positions that require travel, primary form of travel for OLR is via aeroplanes travelling economy class.
