Our Lady of the Rosary School Newsletter November 5, 2014 Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart Gospel Value: Respect When I am afraid, I will trust in you. Psalm 56:3 Dear OLR Families, Today we celebrate the feast day of Elizabeth, the wife of Zachariah, and mother of John the Baptist. Elizabeth and her husband were devout in their faith. They were both very old and desperately wanted to have a child. Elizabeth was quite sad, but she never became bitter. Instead, she had enormous faith in God her entire life. God granted the couple’s wish because of their faith, trust, and love for God. She truly appreciated God’s mercy and kindness and praised Him for giving her a son. Elizabeth’s focus on the Lord was so strong. She is an excellent example of how we should never underestimate God’s tremendous love for us. Sometimes, when we least expect it, God touches us with a miracle and our life is changed forever. This week we welcome our new Pastor, Father Jesús Nieto-Ruiz to Our Lady of the Rosary Parish & School. Father Jesús was ordained on June 24, 1994 by Bishop Cummings. His first assignment was to St. Bede’s Church in Hayward where he served for five years. He then was assigned to St. Mark’s in Richmond. For nearly ten years, Father Jesús has been the Pastor of Saint Anthony’s Parish in Oakland. We are so excited about the opportunity to work closely with Father Jesús here at Our Lady of the Rosary. We will keep Father Jesús in our prayers as he transitioned to his new role as Pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. We invite all of our school families to attend our Family Movie Night on Friday, November 7 in the Parish Hall. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for children ages 5 and older, and FREE for children ages 4 and under. We will be enjoying a variety of homemade soups, bread, water, and movie popcorn. We will also be selling nachos and root beer floats for $2.00 each. Our featured presentation, “The Lego Movie” (rated PG) will begin at 7 p.m. We look forward to seeing our OLR families at this event! Finally, at OLR we take stewardship very seriously. Real stewardship is about giving thanks and becoming more fulfilled by having a greater sense of purpose. This month we will be giving back to God in gratitude for His gifts by showing others our love and support this Thanksgiving. Please carefully read the attached letter asking for your support with our FESCO project and Thanksgiving Food Drive for those in our community who may need a little extra help this holiday season. Thank you for your support.
