Our Lady of the Rosary School Newsletter October 29, 2014 Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart Gospel Value: Peacemaker “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 Dear OLR Families, This is our final week to sell Entertainment books. Every OLR family has been asked to sell at least two books. Ask your family members, neighbors, and friends if they would like to save money on a variety of activities to do around the bay area. The Entertainment books are $30 each and offer thousands of dollars of savings on dining, local attractions, travel, shopping, and so much more! Just complete the order form and OLR gets 50% of all sales. What a great way to support our school! We invite all of our parents to join us for our annual Halloween parade on Friday at 11:30 a.m. Our students are so excited about all the “spooktacular” festivities and are counting the hours until Halloween or “All Hallows’ Eve”. Many people assume that Halloween is just about candy, costumes, haunted houses, witches, ghosts, and pumpkin carving. But our Christian connection to the holiday is so much more than that. Halloween comes from the word hallowed meaning “blessed” or “holy.” A hallowed person is another name for a saint. We call Oct. 31st All Hallows’ Eve because it is the eve of All Saints Day, which is Nov. 1. Halloween is the night that eagerly anticipates the celebration of our living connection with all the faithful who have lived and died before us. Today, Halloween is also a fun time for the young and old to dress in costume and enjoying candy and other treats! We hope that all of our students have a safe and “fang-filled” Halloween evening. We sincerely thank Father Tony for leading our parish and school this month as our interim Pastor. We are so grateful to Father Tony for his spiritual guidance, inspiring homilies, and friendly demeanor. Our faculty and students have enjoyed getting to know Father Tony and have appreciated his visits to our classrooms and celebrating our weekly liturgies with us. We wish Father Tony all the best and invite him to visit us in the near future. We welcome our new Pastor, Fr. Jesus Nieto-Ruiz, who will be joining Our Lady of the Rosary Parish and School on Saturday, Nov. 1st at the 5 p.m. mass. Please extend a warm OLR welcome to our new Pastor.
