Strategic Summary
The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to the school and is being used to support disadvantaged students and close the attainment gap. We use the Pupil
premium to fund three whole school activity types: support, intervention and enrichment.
Key priorities identified September 2013
Support:

To achieve PP attendance 94%+

To support social & emotional development

To address behavioural and learning difficulties through
targeted behaviour for learning interventions
Intervention:

To close the gaps in achievement at KS3 and KS4 in line with
expectations

To ensure all teachers have intervention plans for PP
students

To ensure all PP students have the equipment needed to
engage with the curriculum

To use regular standardised assessment, data tracking and
monitoring of PP student performance

To use targeted intervention in English/Maths/Science to
accelerate progress of PP group

To prioritise literacy as a tool to access learning

To use Learning Mentor to support year 7-13 students

To ensure SLT communicate a clear vision for improving the
achievement and attainment of PP students to all staff and
governors
Enrichment:

To widen the curriculum to ensure accessibility and
engagement

To ensure all PP students have access to extra-curricular
opportunities

To provide PP students with the opportunity and guidance
to develop important skills for life and work To engage
effectively with parents

Fortnightly reviews of attendance, behaviour, pastoral information,
progress and support strategies of PP students with Deputy Headteacher
and PMs
Deputy Head to meet with parents of underachieving PP students
monthly
Raising Attainment Management Group to focus on key PP students
Subject teachers provide records of intervention for PP students in
teaching folders. PP students in English/Maths/Science intervention
programmes prioritised
Booster sessions for examination groups offered
Y7 & Y8 ‘Club 55’ homework group provided
Y11 progress displayed in staff room – specific reference to PP group –
updated after each PPM data capture
‘Positively Mad’ programme provided to develop examination
preparation skills
DEAR programme – Monday tutor time. Kindles/IPads provided for
disengaged readers
SOUND training provided to target PP students with reading ages two
years below chronological age
Music lessons provided to develop engagement with curriculum
Counselling service (RELATE) introduced and PP students prioritised
SEAL Y7 & Y8 programme targeting vulnerable KS3 students
Breakfast Club provided for vulnerable students
Alternative Curriculum offered
CEIAG provided in-house – ensuring pathways post 16 are identified and
value of achieving understood
Parents of PP personally invited to Parent Consultation evenings –
transport provided when appropriate
Governors regularly updated on progress and attainment of PP students
