JOB SUMMARY
This position assists in operations, maintenance, and repairs of the City’s wastewater
collections systems, including gravity sanitary sewer, sewer force mains, sanitary manholes, lift
stations, generators, and SCADA systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Assists with lift station operations, inspection, and maintenance
 Assists with generator operations, inspection, and maintenance
 Assists with operations of the SCADA system
 Assists with preventative maintenance on equipment, vehicles and gas detectors
 Assists in oxygen generator preventative maintenance, record keeping, and adjusting
and maintaining purities
 Monitors hydrogen sulfide gas levels in force mains, air relief valves, etc. to maintain
safe levels citywide
 Coordinates and records preventative and emergency sewer jetting
 Coordinates contract operations for cured in place lining of sewer mains and manholes
 Efficiently operates equipment including: back hoes, excavators, skid loaders, high lift,
load-all, crane truck, jet truck, jet trailer, sewer camera, fork lift, and dump trucks
 Assists the GIS Coordinator with information for updating the GIS mapping system
 Generates and updates records using Excel, Word, and Manger + Pro
 Inspects sanitary systems for potential I&I including televising sewer mains, adjusting
manhole grades, smoke testing and dye testing
 Schedules chemical dosing of sewer solvent throughout the City to control grease, roots
and H2S
 Coordinates notification to the City and public for shutdowns for repairs and new
installation
 Monitors hydrogen sulfide gas levels in lift stations, force mains, ARV’s and manholes to
maintain safe levels City-wide
 Handles chemicals including sewer solvents, pit raider, liquid chlorine and HTH chlorine
safely
 Provide respectful, professional, positive service in all interactions between co-workers
and internal and external customers
 Maintain a positive and productive environment ensuring compliance with policies,
procedures, goals and objectives of the City, Department, and Division
 Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
 High School or GED preferred
 Preferred 1 year water/wastewater experience
 Class D wastewater certification or ability to obtain within one year
 Class D collections certification (MWEA) or ability to obtain within one year
 Current Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 60 days
 Background in maintenance preferred
 Basic computer knowledge
 Some heavy equipment operating experience preferred
 Ability to read and understand maps, plans and electrical drawings
 Knowledge of Electricity
 Good customer service skills (in person, phone, email)
 Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
 Outdoor work in the field experience preferred
