Position Title: Department: Supervisor: FLSA Status: Wastewater Plant Supervisor Public Works Water/Wastewater Superintendent Non – Exempt Grade: 14 Position ID: WWPLSP JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for daily operations of the wastewater treatment plant and wastewater collection system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures compliance with DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) requirements Responsible for sludge management at the plant, completes DNR, EPA, and sludge reports Prepares and monitors division budget seeking continuous improvement and maintaining fiscal responsibility Selects, trains, supervises and directs the work of employees and consistently applies policies and procedures in a equitable manner Coordinates pretreatment and land application activities Coordinates lab testing and procedures with Lab-Tech Coordinates sewer lines and manhole rehabilitation (linings) with Collections crew Coordinates sewer lines and manhole repairs Responsible for gravity sewer lines and force main Coordinates jetting schedule with Collection crew Coordinate maintenance and repairs for lift stations with Collections crew Coordinate maintenance and repairs on generators with Collections crew Supervises, coordinates, and controls day to day operations of the City wastewater treatment plant and safety of that facility and inspects plant operations to ensure top efficiency May assume hands-on of plant biological process / control operations in the event of an emergency Acts as liaison for General Motors wastewater issues Maintains equipment and supply inventory; maintains records relating to receipt and issuance of materials or equipment ; prepares purchase and supply requisitions Develop bid specs, evaluate and write justifications for selection of vendor to be awarded, generate and approve purchase requisitions, monitor products and services received for compliance to contract Performs a variety of confidential and sensitive assignments Responsible for processing and submitting payroll in compliance with all city policies, procedures, state and federal regulations Responsible for enhancing employee performance through establishing and communicating clear expectations and evaluating performance in a fair and professional manner Document1 March 2012 Page 1 of 3 Committed to creating a positive learning environment by identifying the needs of individual employees and developing skills through training, coaching and counseling Provide respectful, professional, positive service in all interactions between coworkers and internal and external customers Maintain a positive and productive environment ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, goals and objectives of the City, Department, and Division Other duties as assigned Document1 March 2012 Page 2 of 3 SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Missouri Class D Lab Analysis Certification High School or GED preferred Tech School preferred Class A Wastewater Certification Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn multiple software packages quickly (Incode and others) SCADA system knowledge Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 60 days Class III Sewer Collection Certification 5 plus years of experience in wastewater Basic electrical knowledge and trouble shooting Motor Control Center Ability to view and understand detailed plant drawings and sewer line maps 5 plus years of supervisory experience Good customer service skills (in person, phone, email) Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Outdoor work in the field experience preferred WORK POSTURE REQUIREMENTS: 1) Bending 5-25% 2) Crouching 5-25% 3) Reaching 5-25% 4) Standing 5-25% 5) Walking 5-25% 6) Sitting 25-50% 7) Lifting 5-25% *(Maximum weight to be lifted 70 lbs.)
