JOB SUMMARY
This position assists in the operations, maintenance, inspection and repairs of the City’s wastewater
collections system, including gravity sewer, of sewer force main, sanitary manholes, lift stations,
generators and the SCADA system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Responsible for inspection, maintenance and repair of sewage lift stations and emergency
generators
 Oversees preventative and emergency sewer jetting of collections system
 Coordinates contract operations for cured in place lining of sewer mains and manholes
 Efficiently operates equipment including: front end loader, skid loader, load-all, crane truck, jet
truck, jet trailer, sewer camera, fork lift and dump trucks.
 Assists the GIS Coordinator with information for updating the GIS mapping system
 Inspects sanitary systems for potential I&I including televising sewer mains, adjusting manhole
grades, smoke testing, and dye testing and oversees needed repairs
 Oversees chemical dosing of sewer solvent throughout the City to control grease, roots and H2S
 Coordinates notification to the City and public for shutdowns for repairs and new installation
 Oversees hydrogen sulfide, oxygen, carbon monoxide and combustible gas levels in lift stations,
force mains, ARV’s and manholes to maintain safe levels city-wide
 Responsible for crew safely handling chemicals including sewer solvents, pit raider, liquid
chlorine and HTH chlorine and pure Cryogenic liquid oxygen
 Oversees Wastewater collection system maintenance and emergency repairs on manholes,
gravity mains, and force mains
 Maintains, updates and reviews detailed records of all collection system, lift station, SCADA
system and emergency generator testing, repairs, and preventative maintenance using Excel,
Word and Manger + Pro
 Coordinates and oversees the work of others consistently applying policies and procedures and
keeping superiors informed of any potential performance concern
 Assists Plant Supervisor in recommending, prioritizing, budget justification, and pricing of needed
collection system major and minor Capital Improvements
 Assists with repairs of treatment plant equipment as needed
 Coordinates projects with contractors and co-workers
 Coordinates with superintendent and supervisor of changes or major repairs needed to SCADA
and lift stations
 Oversees monitoring of oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide and combustible gas levels
in force main, drop manholes, air relief valves, and other concern areas
 Responsible for chemical handling and safety, including solvents and chlorine
 Responsible for operations and maintenance repairs of the SCADA systems at lift stations and
computer control system at control station
 Troubleshoots specialty electrical and computer systems
 Responsible for the oxygen generator preventative maintenance, operations, and repairs
 Responsible for generator operations, inspection, and maintenance repairs
 Provide respectful, professional, positive service in all interactions between co-workers and
internal and external customers
 Maintain a positive and productive environment ensuring compliance with policies, procedures,
goals and objective of the City, Department, and Division
 Maintains equipment and supply inventory; maintains records relating to receipt and issuance of
materials or equipment; prepares purchase and supply requisitions

Develop bid specs, evaluate and write justifications for selection of vendor to be awarded,
generate and approve purchase requisitions, monitors department purchase for compliance to
purchasing policy, approve department purchase, monitor products and services received for
compliance to contract

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
 High School or GED preferred
 Class B CDL or the ability to obtain within 60 days
 Class B Wastewater Certification.
 Class B Collections Certification. (MWEA)
 Supervisory experience preferred
 2-3 years experience in maintenance and repair, including welding and fabrication, pumps and
electric motors
 Some heavy equipment operating experience preferred
 Ability to read and understand detailed construction maps, plans and electrical drawings
 Basic computer knowledge
 Knowledge of electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls and systems, and variable frequency
drives
 Good customer service skills (in person, phone, email)
 Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
 Outdoor work in the field experience preferred
