Weekly Assignments in Lab (Quizzes and Homework)
Lab meets every week and lasts approximately two hours. At the beginning of each lab, you will take a quiz
that covers the last week of readings and lectures, up to (and including) the day of your lab. So if our lab is
Monday morning, the quiz will cover readings assigned for Wed and Fri of the previous week and Monday of
the current week. Quizzes will differ across labs, but we will ensure that the averages are the same across labs
at the end of the semester.
In labs, you will also start on a homework assignment that will always be due the next week. Homework
assignments will cover material from Friday from the week before through Wednesday of the lab week. They
are always due in lab the following week.
The lab counts for 40% of your total grade in the course and quizzes and homeworks count equally in the lab.
Therefore, quizzes are worth 20% of your final grade and homeworks are worth 20% of your final grade.
Outside of your grade, it is important to complete all of the quizzes and all of the homeworks to make sure
understand the material and identify weaknesses in your own knowledge. Concepts in statistics usually build
from one to the next, so if you have a question ask soon and ask often.

Course Facebook Page
We have set up a Facebook account for the class under the name facebook.com/CUStatistics. If you have
questions regarding the class, homework, tests, etc., this is the place to post them. Post any questions
relevant to the class here –questions about lectures, readings, HWs, quizzes, or tests. Email your TA or
Professor directly for issues of a personal nature (e.g., you are on the ski team and will miss a lab session). If
you do not have a facebook account, or if you want to have a separate account just for this class, they are easy
enough to set up.


Make-up Labs: If you miss a lab it will be your responsibility to cover the material from that lab. Because
homework is assigned one week and due the next, no late homework is accepted. You can turn in an
assignment anytime during that week, so if you will miss a lab when an assignment is due, turn in the
homework before lab. Also, we will drop the lowest TWO QUIZ grades but only the LOWEST HOMEWORK
grade. Thus, no late work will be accepted.

Attendance: There are no points given for lab attendance, but your attendance in the lab is vital to your
overall grade. In lab not only will we be assigning/doing/collecting lab assignments, but we will also be reexamining material presented in the class.
