Manufacturing Engineer A rapidly growing division of a major oil and gas service company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for its Seattle-based location. The company develops and provides premium tools to the rapidly expanding North American unconventional oil and gas industry. Job Description This position is responsible for developing and improving manufacturing processes by studying the product and exploring new manufacturing methods. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Abide by all Tempress Oil States Energy Services LLC. Safety and Operational Policy and Procedures. Develop new tooling methods, build innovative tools and revise tooling standards to reduce production costs. Research new suppliers and manufacturing methods. Develop manufacturing schedules to test new tools and processes. Develop detailed manufacturing estimates and negotiating with suppliers, material vendors and subcontractors. Evaluates manufacturing processes by researching industry periodicals or attending trade shows; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting feedback and technical data from operators. Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. Maintains product and company reputation by addressing customer’s feedback and inquiries, and complying with industry standards. Works with engineering to identify problems with performance or tool life and recommends solutions or enhancements. Maintains product and process data base by entering and analyzing data. Inspect incoming new parts for compliance with standards, recommending improvements or corrective actions as required. Assist engineering with assembly and testing of new products or procedures, and ensures the manufacturability of new products. May travel occasionally, up to 10 percent, visiting vendors or suppliers for the purposes of conducting audits and /or resolve production issues, and travel to trade shows. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience An Associate’s degree in an area of specialty a plus, a Bachelors degree is preferred, along with seven to ten years’ experience in machine shop operations. Experience in manufacturing and operations, manufacturing methods and procedures, manufacturing quality, product development and dealing with a variety of complex issues are desirable. Experience in developing new tools and technologies, presenting technical information, and working with CAD Design (Solidworks preferred, other CAD Design experience is desirable). Experience as a machinist or supervisor of automated systems is desirable. A team player who proactively seeks out expertise and advice from other professionals, and who demonstrates a high-level of leadership and supervision experience. Upstream oil and gas industry experience, familiarity with well service tools, coiled tubing operations or horizontal directional drilling experience is a desirable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have hands-on experience with precision measuring equipment. Must possess a general working knowledge of hand, power, and pneumatic tools to safely handle heavy tooling and parts. Good communication skills enable the engineer to exchange tooling ideas with project managers, cost estimators and process engineers. Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to rapidly adapt to changes and demands based upon workflow. Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays or on call as needed. Must successfully pass pre-and random post-employment drug and alcohol tests per company policy. CERTIFICATION & LICENSES A valid US Passport or be able to obtain one. A valid driver’s license with Satisfactory Driver History.
