Senior Aerospace SSP Job Opportunity Job Title: Reports To: Manufacturing Engineer Manufacturing Engineer Manager SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer (M.E.) will research, plan and prepare new manufacturing programs including work instructions and tooling plans for assigned projects. The M.E. will also originate and develop new manufacturing and tooling concepts; provide liaison between Estimating, Tooling, and Fabrication Departments; prepare reports showing results and endeavors in the development of new manufacturing and production techniques. The M.E. will be responsible for the application of production methods and fabrication techniques. The M.E. determines allocation of parts / material to production departments (engineering drawings, process specifications sales orders, and change notices) for the fabrication process and assembly of the finished part. The Manufacturing Manager will define specific responsibilities for each Manufacturing Engineer in accordance with their area of expertise. These responsibilities shall be reviewed at least once annually preferably near/during the performance review period or as organizational changes occur. Responsible for and will be the focal point for all technical aspects of assigned project(s) in the following categories: -Compliance with customer/product procurement specification - Validate that the manufacturing process meets all customer and internal requirements. -Product manufacturability -Concurrence on planning document releases -Tooling requirements -Work Instructions Creates and maintains “How to Planning”. Responsible for clear and concise work instructions of detail parts, sub assemblies, and top assemblies. Apply operation time standards as required. Ensure the manufacturability of detail parts, sub assemblies, top assemblies as applicable to the project(s). Project/ proposal management. 1 of 3 May be assigned as liaison and provide technical assistance between Senior Aerospace SSP manufacturing and customer cognizant engineering. Assist in the initial manufacturing cycle of all new detail parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies. Become familiar with the delivery schedule and adhere to that schedule. In case of conflict or if additional time is required to complete and validate the tooling and processes associated. The Manufacturing Engineer shall work with the assigned Contracts Administrator and the Operations Manager for schedule relief/change. Follow-up on the progress of the project through the manufacturing process. Apply time standards after process validation. Become familiar with the specific manufacturing process of the product and work to identify and implement cost reduction ideas. May be assigned to special cost reduction initiatives as part of a multi-discipline team. Perform, document and validate component, assembly, and/or system processes such as machining, forming, stamping, heat treating, and chemical processing of the following materials: A) B) C) D) E) Titanium Inconel Aluminum Stainless Steel 01 and D2 tooling steel Ensure that all engineering changes are implemented. Coordinate the design of tooling as it applies to the process. Develop sound manufacturing processes based upon Senior Aerospace SSP’s capabilities. Check production drawing(s) for technical content. Make recommendations and offer credible solutions to product, tooling and processes. Minimum Requirements: B.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering (or another Engineering discipline) with a minimum of 3 years experience in an aerospace environment required. 2 of 3 Must possess knowledge of sheet metal and aerospace materials. Solid Works Design and NC Programming Must possess knowledge of sheet metal related processes (welding, forming, NDT, etc) and geometric tolerance. Further Desired Requirements: AS400 and MAPICs Enterprise software Creation of work instructions Develop, document, and maintain knowledge database Language Skills: Must have excellent communication and inter-personal skills; must have the ability to read, comprehend, present, and write (in English) correspondence, work orders, policies, procedures, etc.; must have the ability to prepare presentations and speak / present material to large groups of employees. Other Skills and Abilities: Must have the ability to interact with employees of all levels and cultural backgrounds; must have the ability to handle many customers with a variety of requests; & must be able to effectively multi-task and quickly change from one task to the next and back. Must be a detail orientated, self-administrator able to work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
