ICT – CAMBRIDGE NATIONAL Awarding Body: OCR Award : Level 2 Cambridge Nationals in ICT Course Outline From personal computers to smartphones, from apps to websites, all of our lives, every day, are enhanced through the use of ICT. The new Cambridge Nationals in ICT reflect this and provide students with a solid foundation for understanding and applying this subject in their future education and working lives. Key Features There are two core units plus 2 specialist units choosing from Unit 1 – Understanding computer systems, Unit 2 – Using ICT skills to create business solutions, Unit 6 – Creating digital images, and Unit 9 – Exploring computer hardware and networks. The course is structured to develop your existing interests as well as giving you a broad foundation and introducing you to new areas in the IT industry, such as business communication, starting a network, and the production of digital images Assessment Unit 1 contains a written paper which is set and marked by the exam board. The remaining units are coursework based and moderated by the exam board - OCR. Units are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction (GCSE equivalent – Grade C, Grade B, Grade A) with a new grading of Distinction* (GCSE Grade A*) to aspire pupils to achieve more. Progression The Cambridge Nationals in ICT have been founded in partnership with teachers, students, education specialists and industry-leading employers. This subject helps prepare students for apprenticeships and careers in IT or further studies in ICT.
