SUMMARY: The Bi-Rite Family of Businesses HR Director provides our staff with inspirational guidance and
creative direction for all the Bi-Rite Family Businesses with the sole purpose of maintaining a fun, vibrant and
happy work environment. The HR Director is a critical member of the senior leadership team that is responsible for
achieving Bi-Rite’s 10-year 2024 Vision, guided by our Mission of Creating Community through Food.
In addition to driving culture, the HR Director manages compliance requirements of all HR functions and provides
a comprehensive HR service to managers and staff within the organization. The HR Director works closely with the
Director of Operations and owners to execute effective and compliant plans for recruiting, hiring, training, staff
development, discipline, termination, and employee benefits and workers’ compensation, in line with our core
values of Love, Passion and Integrity.
Responsibilities, Competencies, Skills, Qualifications
Responsibilities:
1) Human Resources Management
a. Contribute to an amazing work environment by ensuring that our environment is supportive,
challenging, inspiring, empowering, rewarding, fun, exciting, educational, and personal.
b. Play a key role in the organizational development and succession planning ensuring there is a clear
path of growth and development and the appropriate resources are available for staff to achieve
their goals.
c. Oversee recruitment for all positions within company providing management with qualified
candidates who are diverse and are inspired to greatness while hiring from within the
communities we operate whenever possible.
d. Act as an internal consultant for management and staff ensuring they are supported, and
empowered to make change.
e. Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations in all HR practices including,
but not limited to: recruitment, hiring, training, compensation, separations as well as policy
development and implementation.
f. Ensure the company’s legal exposure in relation to employment issues is minimized.
g. Develop company compensation program designed to fulfill defined strategies and company
objectives.
h. Research and make recommendations on new or alternative benefits, as requested by
management. Negotiate with carriers regarding rates, services, administration and coverage.
i. Conduct and oversee the investigation, implementation and documentation of employee relations
issues and disciplinary actions.
j. Oversee the maintenance of the HR database to ensure it is accurate and current.
2) Staff Development
a. Design, implement and oversee training programs for employees and managers. Follow up with
managers to ensure timely orientations, safety training and on-the-job training.
b. Research and recommend outside training and development opportunities for management and
non-management employees.
c. Develop, maintain and train educational seminars for staff and managers.
3) Organizational and HR Leadership
a. Participate in planning the strategic direction of the business and in developing long-range plans
to achieve company objectives.
b. Provide leadership and guidance on organizational change management.
c. Develop and manage annual department budget; perform periodic cost and productivity analyses.

Worker’s Compensation, Safety and Wellness
a. Oversee and follow up on claims with employee, manager, medical facility and insurance
company, communicating information as needed.
b. Research and make recommendations on Worker’s Compensation carriers to contain costs.
c. Ensure that safety violations, hazards and accidents are documented and addressed following
legal requirements.
d. Oversee the safety program with Wellness Coordinator and managers including: orientation, ongoing safety training/awareness, incentive program and accident prevention.
e. Oversee wellness program for the company and report on activity and quantitative data
supporting value of the program for overall employee well-being and benefit costs.
5) Project Management
a. Identify HR related projects for continuous improvement and opportunities for better efficiency.
b. Work with owners and key management positions to develop projects based on the company
needs.
c. Manage all assets of project initiatives from implementation through on-going system
maintenance.
6) Supervisory
a. Manage the HR department and provide leadership to the team.
b. Provide guidance and oversight to HR staff, as well as ensuring continued development of HR staff.
c. Conduct performance reviews and corrective action plans.

Qualifications:
 Minimum of 5 years of diverse experience in all areas of human resources
 Minimum of 5 years in a management position with supervisory responsibilities
 College degree or equivalent experience
 PHR or SPHR preferred
 Demonstrated objectivity, neutrality, calmness under pressure
 Team and relationship builder. Demonstrated ability to work effectively across groups in an organization
 Respectful and outstanding leadership skills that motivates staff to exceed expectations
 Natural and exceptional customer service skills. Providing great customer service is wired into DNA.

Physical Requirements: Continuous standing, walking, sitting and carrying/transporting of less than 15 lbs.;
occasional climbing, stooping, twisting and fine manipulation; intermittent bending, reaching, and
carrying/transporting of 15-30 lbs. Occasional environmental exposure to cold, heat and water; and rare exposure
to dust and fumes.
Language: Fluent English required (spoken and written) / Spanish spoken language skills preferred.
