11:00AM – 11:50 AM

AGENDA
Members Present: Mindy Cooper, Eric Snajdr, Jessica Trinoskey, Meagan Lacy,
Victoria Son, Stephen Towne, Anna Proctor, Teodora Durbin
Agenda items:
Strategic plan: The plan was approved by the Leadership Council. The next step is
to act on the stated objectives, i.e. making local newsletters available, creating
programming for International News Room.
Community Newspapers: We still need to collect titles for community
newspapers. Then we will decide how many copies to display and where we will put
them. Victoria will gather this list.
Programming for International News Room: Stephen Towne suggested that the
nascent democracy movements in the Middle East – Tunisia, Egypt, Librya, Bahrain - would provide an apt focus for programming in the news room. The first event is
to be held tentatively in early April. Sherry Ricchiardi may be a possible contact.
Jessica will take the lead on this project. Sherry Ricchiardi
Additional Channels: Since Dick Eppert’s list of cable channels do not fit into the
theme of the newsroom, none of them will be added.
Film Series: On March 29th, the Japanese Club will host. On April 20 we will show
the recent film Made in Dageham. Jennifer James has compiled a list of films with
public performance rights. Meagan will put the list on the shared drive. Film dates
through the end of semester, year round. Jessica suggested engaging business
students who travel abroad to host a night and discuss experiences abroad in fall.
Meagan will contact philosophy club and Jordan Jenkins. Steve will book dates
through fall semester.
Other groups suggested to host film screenings: The Muslim, Saudi Arabian, and
Pakistani student groups.
International Festival: Members who attended felt that the library’s location was
poor since we were sequestered in Barnes and Noble and not very visible. Some
reference questions were asked, and Mindy learned that there is an office of alumni
relations for each country represented at IUPUI.
Display: Peace Corps display will be up until March. Women in Organized Labor is
the proposed them for the next display. Victoria will lead.
Mixer: Mindy proposed an international student mixer. She will take the lead for an
October 2011 event.
Next meeting: The next meeting will take place in early April. Stephen Towne will
announce.
