Research Associate/Nurse – Cardiovascular Research HRB Clinical Research Facility Ref. No. NUIG 29-14 Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full time fixed term position as a Research Associate/Nurse in Cardiovascular Research with the HRB Clinical Research Facility at the National University of Ireland, Galway. The HRB Clinical Research Facility, Galway’s remit is to increase the amount of clinical research currently happening in Ireland. Medical doctors and nurses will work with other scientists to improve our understanding of a variety of diseases and to develop new tests and treatments to help tackle these diseases. The Centre will provide patients with the latest advances in areas such as cancer, obstetrics and gynaecology, diabetes, inflammatory diseases, Critical Illness, cystic fibrosis and cardiovascular disease. Job Description: The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team who engage with researchers to support patient-focused research studies and audit activities in Cardiovascular Medicine, aimed at understanding and quantifying the impact of stroke and cardiovascular disease, conducting research into cardiovascular preventative strategies and bringing the research work in these areas to the patient as speedily as possible. The clinical aspects of this research will be conducted in the Galway and Roscommon University Hospital Group. Responsible for a caseload of patients on clinical trials and research projects. As part of the CRFG team the individual will be expected to lead on areas such as individual research projects, engage in nurse led research, audit and education. Qualifications: Essential: A minimum of 1 year experience in a clinical research nurse role Candidates must be registered or be eligible to register in the General Division of An Bord Altranais The clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. Ability to perform Clinical Patient Assessment An understanding of Research and the Research process. Desirable: Experience of working in an Irish hospital is an advantage.
