Expressions of Interest for Research – Wave Measurements School of Physics Ref. No. NUIG 104-14 Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed term position as a researcher in wave measurements with School of Physics at the National University of Ireland, Galway. This position is funded by Enterprise Ireland and is available from 01/01/2015 to contract end date of 31/12/2016. The position involves engineering and instrumentation for wave measurements. The tasks will involve developing hardware and engineering for measurements of waves and software skills are a required. Job Description: The successful candidate will develop the hardware methods for wave measurements, and develop the software to acquire the data. The tasks will involve design of mechanical and electrical systems for deployment of the instruments to ensure high data quality. Integration of the system hardware components and development of software code will allow the implementation of robust system to gather the necessary data for the wave measurements. Qualifications: The candidate should have a PhD in a subject closely related to wave measurements. Proven track record and experience of hardware and software is essential. More than 10 years of experience in industry is required for appointment at the research fellow level and 15 years at the senior research fellow level. Appointment at the Senior Research Fellow level will be part-time. Candidates should have excellent communication and organisational skills; be highly motivated and passionate about developing new products; and have strong documentation, oral and interpersonal skills. Salary: €37,750 – €46,225 per annum. Postdoctoral researcher level €51,716 – €56,442 per annum. Research fellow level €63,125 per annum.
