LITERACY
 Class reading of Street Child.
 Writing narratives – short stories, detective stories.
 Poetry - personification
 Revising prefixes, suffixes and plurals for spelling.
 Using advanced punctuation: colon, semi-colon, brackets.
 Investigating and using connectives to improve writing.
 Developing biographical and auto-biographical writing.
 Writing in report styles.
MATHEMATICS
 Revising approaches to calculation – addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division.









Reading and writing whole and decimal numbers.
Memorising all multiplication facts to 10x10
Multiplying whole and decimal numbers by 10, 100, 1000.
Solving ‘real life’ problems including money.
Converting between km, cm, m and mm.
Constructing and interpreting pie and line graphs.
Rounding decimals to nearest whole number or place.
Calculating area and perimeter of different shapes.
Finding fractions and percentages of numbers and money.

HELPING YOUR CHILD AT HOME
 Encourage reading of a wide range of texts, including
stories, information texts, biography and newspapers.
