Welcome to Year 4 Year 4 Expectations Complete PE kit in on Mondays. Ear-rings removed or own tape to be in PE bag. Swimming kit in for Thursday & Friday lessons. Homework to be completed and returned to class by Tuesday. Spelling & Times Tables Identification of gaps in spellings and times table knowledge. Checking children’s ability to spell the first 100 and following 200 frequently used words. Checking gaps in individual times tables. Use of Mathletics to support learning. On alternate Fridays there will be random times tables and mental maths tests. Every Friday there will be a spelling test. Reading Comprehension Homework P.E.E Point – Write your answers in your book rather than on the sheets Evidence – back up your answers with evidence found in the text. Explain – link ‘point and evidence’ by explaining using full sentences with appropriate vocabulary and punctuation. Expectations for Maths To count in multiples of 6, 7, 9, 25, 100 and 1000. To find 1000 more or less than a given number. Order and compare numbers beyond 1000. To recognise the place value of each digit in a four-digit number (thousands, hundreds, tens and ones). Round any number to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000. Recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 x 12. Ensure your child completes their homework. Read regularly with your child and question their understanding of what they are reading. Regularly test their times tables knowledge and involve them in everyday Maths e.g. handling money, calculating the cost of shopping and reading the time. Regularly practise spellings. Encourage your children to use Mathletics. If you are ensure of any methods we use in school, please ask and we will go over it. School Journey - Wrotham Date of the visit 18th March-20th March. Approximate cost is £126 depending on numbers. The children will stay in dorms in either pairs of groups of up to 8. They will participate in many outdoor activities of survival skills, high wall climbing and archery. Daily contact will be made with the school. The centre is only a 40 minute drive away and we will be travelling by coach. Two meetings will be scheduled prior to the visit. Questions?
