Can you believe Monday is February already?! There’s a lot of great stuff happening in February, so get ready for some exciting celebrations! This week we learned to compare and contrast characters as well as fiction/non-fiction texts, and we learned to read words with /ea/ /ee/ /e/ and /ng/ and /nk/. In science we learned about different natural resources like air, water, and soil, and in math we finished up the lessons for chapter 6. Next week we will read an informative text about where food comes from, we will work on words with /ai/ and /ay/ spelling patterns, and we will learn to capitalize the names of months, days, and holidays. In social studies we will begin our Chinese New Year unit and spend a day discussing Ground Hogs. Wednesday is our 100th DAY OF SCHOOL, so we will do some fun 100 day activities during the afternoon on Wednesday. We will take our Chapter 7 math text next week on Tuesday. We will do the review pages on Monday as a class and students will take home their chapter 7 math books for homework on Monday. As a result, homework will follow this schedule: Monday – Math; Tuesday – Reading; Wednesday – Spelling; Thursday – Reading. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Finally, as the Chinese New Year approaches we will need paper bags from the grocery store to make dragon masks to wear during the parade! Please send your student with a paper grocery bag by Wednesday February 3rd so we can get started on our amazing masks. Thank You!
