MIRACOSTA COLLEGE CLASS TITLE: WRITER/DIGITAL MARKETING SPECIALIST BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director, Public & Governmental Relations, Marketing and Communications, write content for print, broadcast, mobile and online media; coordinate the district’s social media and digital campaigns; provide assistance to the Director as needed. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 1. Develop content for and coordinate college presence on social media sites and on the Web as a whole. Research market trends and implement branding strategies through participation in online activities. (E) 2. Work with faculty, staff and administrative departments to ensure and optimize their social media presence. 3. Manage and evaluate online advertising, including paid social media ads, for the district and for individual departments. 4. Develop content and maintain marketing features on the college website, including the college’s online social media directory, news page, virtual tour and faculty/student profiles. (E) 5. Develop goals and metrics to measure, analyze, and optimize effectiveness of digital communication and marketing strategy. Monitor and track Web site and social media initiatives via Web analytics. (E) 6. Research, develop and write content for a variety of marketing needs, including Web sites, social media, news releases, informational brochures, newsletters, booklets, campus calendars of events, college-wide information systems, and other materials for dissemination. (E) 7. Interview students, faculty, staff and donors for story development. 8. Assist with special events including planning, coordination and publicity. 9. Assist in covering switchboard for regular operator’s breaks, as needed. 10. Perform related duties as assigned.
