CLASS TITLE:
PROGRAM AIDE – TESTING SERVICES
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Coordinator, Testing Services, perform a variety of duties to support the
Testing program; administer standardized group assessment tests and instructional tests;
maintain appropriate security of test materials and results; follow prescribed test procedures and
appropriate policies and regulations; provide information to students.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1.
Administer a variety of assessment tests and instructional tests including adaptive tests for
disabled students in accordance with established requirements. (E)
2.
Provide instructions to students following established procedures; assist students by
answering questions and providing information; maintain test security and integrity. (E)
3.
Monitor students during test administration; monitor timing for individual tests; resolve or
report test irregularities. (E)
4.
Check in students for various tests; verify identification using established policies and
procedures; maintain log of student visits. (E)
5.
Make student appointments for the Academic Proctoring Center; record attendance; report
student attendance and other information to instructors. (E)
6.
Receive, store, and return test materials in a secure manner. (E)
7.
Provide support to the department by assisting with reports and other projects as
assigned.
8.
Perform a variety of clerical and recordkeeping duties.
9.
Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Basic test administration practices and procedures.
Basic arithmetic.
Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Operation of a computer and Microsoft applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Operation of a student appointment system.
Automated recordkeeping techniques.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Oral and written communication skills.
District organization, operations, policies and objectives.

ABILITY TO:
Schedule and administer various academic tests.
Use automated systems for maintaining and reporting of test results for various tests.
Assist in testing-related evaluation.
Maintain current knowledge of testing requirements and regulations issued by the Testing
Department, State, or other agency.
Read, understand and apply technical information.
Operate a computer, printer, copier, scanner, fax machine, shredder and calculator.
Use department test computer programs, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office products, and other
office productivity applications.
Generate and maintain computer records.
Read, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to the college and test
administration.
Assess student testing situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Meet schedules and timelines.
Work independently with direction.
Lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Observe legal and defensive driving practices.
Work confidentially with discretion.
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic
and disability issues
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school and one year of closely related experience.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver license with acceptable driving record per District standards.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Primarily sedentary with intermittent standing, walking, bending and stooping; occasional light
lifting and carrying of objects weighing 25 pounds or less; ability to work at computer, including
repetitive use of computer keyboard, mouse or other control devices; ability to travel to a variety of
locations on and off campus as needed to conduct district business.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT:
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships involving interactions and
communications personally, by phone and in writing with a variety of individuals and/or groups of
individuals from diverse backgrounds on a regular, on-going basis; ability to concentrate on
detailed tasks for extended periods of time and/or intermittently while attending to other

responsibilities; ability to work effectively under pressure on multiple tasks concurrently while
meeting established deadlines and changing priorities.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily works in (an office, instructional lab, classroom environment). Subject to frequent
interruptions by individuals in person or by telephone, intermittent exposure to individuals acting in
a disagreeable fashion. May work at any district location or authorized facility during day and/or
evening hours with occasional evenings, and/or weekends on an as-needed basis as required by
the testing schedule. Occasional local travel may be requested.
