Space Committee Meeting
MINUTES
February 4, 2015
Members Present:

1.
Project Timelines
- Student Assembly Building
 A meeting is scheduled for February 5th to review the design.
- New Aquatic Center
 The revised design development package is being reviewed.
 The consultant is in the process of producing a dynamic view of the project which
should be completed in 3 weeks.
- Athletic and Recreation Facilities
 Preliminary layouts and Order of Magnitude costs have been received.
 A fee proposal has been requested for the javelin throw area to complete the
construction drawings.

Skinner-Jones Halls North and South
- The consultants have resubmitted a preliminary program for the building if Chemistry
and Physics were to stay in the Science & Engineering building and Engineering move to
Building 4.
3.
Fieldhouse (Aquatic Center Re-Purposing)
- Construction is in progress. A wish list is being compiled from the users in the event
there are residual funds left over after completion.
- A few issues were found in the walls but costs are still within the budget. The timeline
should not be affected.
- A cost analysis is being prepared between either a brick or a metal exterior for the rear
wall.
4.
Library Learning Commons
- Construction is in progress.
- The book moves have been completed. Carpeting is complete on the second
floor. All furniture has been installed.
- Plans for the reception desk are in progress.
- Technical requirements for the turn-styles are being developed. With a concern
regarding books being removed from the library, security of some type will be
researched.
5.
Math Emporium
- The drawings are 90% complete.
- The client group met and was asked to write a synopsis of their requirements and
changes to the original program.
6.
Arena Bridge Enhancement
- Zak Ovadia presented a preliminary design for the proposed Arena bridge
enhancement.
7.
Building 6 (The Annex)
- The Sculpture program has been moved to the building. Adding power for the
band saw and the table saw, in order to meet the requirements of the current
program, is currently in progress. Funding for other needed elements will be
identified.
- The School of Engineering has moved as well.
