Jo Ann: Next Tuesday ECCE Mediation, so staff meeting might be canceled. October 18 -19, Vice Chancellor will be at Compton Center. October 23-26 at the ACBO conference. The order of responsibility for Acting Vice President in my absence will be Mike Trevis and then Rocky Bonura. FCMAT has postponed their visit to Compton from this month to March or April of next year. Facilities will do the presentation at the November 3rd Management Forum. John & Janice – find out if students registered in an eight week class and are on Financial Aid, get their first check before the semester begins. Rocky & Julie – look into purchases of Compton promotional items by EOP&S office last year. Committee Reports/Division Issues: Facilities: Planned power outage last week went well. Wednesday night we will test the fire alarm system in Student Services. Stadium project will have two phases, which will make it easier at close out. New DSA staff has been assigned to ECC. DSA is looking not only at the project submitted for approval, but also all of the open A ones numbers. For example the start the Stadium project the Parking Lot H project will have be closed out. Revision by LPA was presented to the User Group and everyone seems to be happy. Custodian hiring panel is set and interview will be on October 17. Mike: At Compton, issue with theft of Auto Shop equipment. Stolen property was recovered. At ECC, apprehended the person who was stealing bicycles. Babs: Busy with Compton projects. John: Working on Cotop. Hiep Tran is out on medical. Interview for Assistant Director are scheduled for this Friday. Date setup with the President’s office for final interview in November. Rocky: October 20th is the Great California Shakeout. Items from College Council – for John - at yesterday’s meeting discussion came up regarding the phone systems and the calls that come into Student Services, Financial Aid and Counseling. If the phone messages have a feature that will let the student know what the waiting time is to get a live person? Julie: For the beginning of the semester the combined (ECC & Compton) sales were down 10%, but with the semester progression the sales are only down 6% total. One of the reasons could be that students are waiting longer and longer to purchase the needed books. Looking at reducing amount budgeted to Associated Students. Janice: Need to know who to bill for the overtime charged by Police and Facilities department in regards to the movie production. Rocky said the production company will pay for the overtime and to give him the information. Departments are asking why there is no budget for casual workers. Answer: Vice Presidents are working on it and to spend sparingly. Auditors will be here mid November. Fred: Discussed various issues regarding Compton campus. Since the glass panels are being removed and it is going to rain. Plastic sheet will be put at the appropriate area. The data drop area will be taped up so there will be no water damage. (Jo Ann would like someone to physically go over and check if there is leak). Meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
