Minutes from November 1st were approved.
 Jo Ann :
 Compton Board meeting tonight and the infrastructure bid is on the agenda.
 Meeting with Taisei is on Thursday morning.
 Bob - sent an email regarding the letter that was sent to ECC by Taisei. Number the
paragraphs and give me short sentences on each paragraph.
o Advertise the HVAC position with CASBO. Talk with Tom Connolly, he is a
member and can get us a reduced advertisement fee.
o Bob's position, make certain that I am not put as a reference.
o College Council would like you to attend the next meeting. Would like you to have
sample design of the smoking area signage and possible structures design that can
be made.
 John - fill Will in on Compton issues.
o Email Shobhana and me on where the software is installed and on how many
computers.
 Babs has been loaned to Compton until March 31, 2012.
 Larry Carrier is sitting in for Janice.
 Faculty Fact finding report is being made public today.
o The fact finder is overwhelmingly in favor of the district.
o Tomorrow at Management meeting this topic will be discussed in-depth.
 Bill Beverly won the election.
 Classified union will vote on their contract on December 2nd.
 The unions have not withdrawn from participating on College Council.
 Liebert Cassidy Whitmore workshop on Preventing Workplace Harassment,
Discrimination and Retaliation is on December 7th, fees are $100 each. Would like
everyone well trained on this topic.
 Tom B. – find out from Rebekka Asher if students are bringing in hazardous materials on
to campus for recycling disposal.
 Julie – are you ok with the book sales being done by the different clubs? (Julie – was not
consulted). Please find out if textbooks (used or new) are taxable and if the clubs are
filing a sales tax return. Send email to Rebecca Cobb on this topic.
Committee Reports/Division Issues:
 Facilities:
 Interview for the painter position will be held on the last week in November and will be put
on the December board, with a starting date of January 3rd.
 Bid closed on the parking lot lighting and security cameras and Minco is the contractor.
Bid is for $2.477 million. (Jo Ann would like to be included in the first with them, please
let Randy know).
 Phase 2 of the restroom renovation will go out to bid after the holidays. Will be getting the
plans back from DSA by beginning of December.
 John:
 Southland has not been paid and their status is up in the air. (Joann will talk with Lance
English & Mark Collins at the next MIS meeting on Wednesday).
 ITS is Beta testing the power savings software to see what energy savings there will be.
 Tracking student logins in the Library and Humanities lab and the results are that students
are using them to work on their course sections. Have given the data to Lovell.
 First week of March will be doing Accreditation visit to Feather River College. There will
be accreditation training in Los Angeles early part of February.
Rocky:
 Lillian is due to return on December 1st.
 Capri & Linda are working at Compton.
 GASB meeting is today at 11am and we got three responses.
 Business Services audit response was satisfying to auditors. (Jo Ann – cross check with
Larry on the prior year audit findings).
 AQMD have given ECC an oral approval. Inspector from AQMD will be on campus on
November 30th.
 Will be doing hazardous materials inventory.
 Julie:
 Gave financials to auditors yesterday.
 Rudy Ramos:
 The weekend of December 3rd there will be a complete shutdown of power in the MIS area.
 Mike:
 Safety training by the Chancellor’s Office of Emergency Preparedness will be on
December 10 & 11 at ECC. This will include the officers from Compton. On December
9th, Office of Emergency Preparedness would also like to do a meet and greet with the
VP’s from other Colleges at ECC. (Jo Ann – send an email on this topic).
 Behavioral Intervention Team, comprised of representative from Special Resources, Health
office, Counseling, Rebecca Cobb and myself have met to discuss the role of this group
and its relation to student success.
 International student from Japan was reported missing by the instructor. In further
researching the issue, obtained information that the student had moved back to Japan. (Jo
Ann – send an email to Dr. Nishime, Bill Mulrooney and Leo Rachman).
