III. Approval of the Minutes
Motion to approve the Senate minutes for May 12, 2011 as is made by Lena
Yamaguchi. Seconded by Nicole Reinertsen. Motion passed
IV. Approval of the Agenda
Jessica Lopez stated that New Business items 6.1-6.8 need to be changed to 5.1-5.8
Motion to approve the agenda as amended for May 26, 2011 made by Jessica
Lopez. Seconded by Lena Yamaguchi. Motion passed.
V. New Business
5.1Awards & Corona del Camino Induction – Carolee Vakil-Jessop
Andre Portilla received his award for the Corona Del Camino Induction.

Removals- Jessica Lopez
5.2.1 Motion to remove Kevin Dono from the Senate made by Jessica Lopez.
Seconded by Nicole Reinertsen.
Motion Passed
5.2.2 Motion to remove Brandon Cheng from the Senate made Jessica Lopez.
Seconded by Vito Iaia. Motion Passed.
5.3
Region 7 Mixer – Nicole Reinertsen/ Jasmine Hormati
The Region 7 Mixer will be held on June 17 th

5.4 Upload 2011-2012 Budget Problem; May Revision -Jessica Lopez
Jessica Lopez stated that there has been a reduction in the state deficit. The
Reduction is from 15 billion to 10.8 billion.
5.5 BP 2350 Speaker- Jessica Lopez
Jessica Lopez commented that this item deals with the Board of Trustees meetings. The public speakers are taking up too much time during their meeting, making the meetings exceedingly long. This proposal is an attempt to keep the board meeting more time efficient.

This item involves the administrator on campus; telling them to not view inappropriate material on their computers and to take care of them.
VI. Reports
6.1 ASO Member Reports

Rebekka Asher reported that the last fund raiser will be at BJ’s Bar and Grill on
May 31 st
from 4pm to 11pm. ASO will receive 15% of the proceeds.
Jessica Lopez reported that ASO now has its own tent and that it is in the
Executive Office ready for use.
Also that yesterday at the ASB meeting a presentation was given by Jessica and
Rebecca Cobb; to increase the current ASO’s Budget from $24,000 to $40,000.
The reason for the need of an increase in ASO’s budget is due to the fact that the
ASO has a lack of events, advertising, and promoting. These can be improved with a larger budget. There will be a discussion at the next ASB meeting.
The Student Grievance Panel needs a member of the ASO to attend its upcoming meeting. Rebekka Asher and Vito Iaia stated they are willing and able to attend.
6.2 ICC Reports
The New ICC President is Josian Fuentez and the New Vice President is: Lily
Kurosaki. The ICC banquet will be held tomorrow from 11:45-2:30.
6.3 AGS Reports

Jasmine Hormati reported that she will relay any ideas for Irene Graff’s surveys.

VIII. Public Comments
Lena Yamaguchi stated that positions are available for Student Ambassadors.
Nehasi Lee is a student senator and our representative at the state level. He stated that our
Agendas need to be clearer, that the public can also comment on agenda items. He also commented that ASO should help in promoting students to register to vote.
It was reported that administration wants smoking areas on campus, but the Board of
Trustees will make the final Decision.
Samuel Barke commented that there will be fundraiser next week at McDonalds from 4-
7pm held by the international club.
IX. Adjournments
Motion to adjourn the Senate meeting at 1:37pm, made Lena Yamaguchi.
Seconded by Johanna Zamora. Motion passed.
