August 20, 2010 Dear Parents, We made it through the first week! The kids are adapting nicely to the schedule of First Grade. I know it is a big adjustment for them but they are handling it very well. Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me. We are going to have a terrific year together! We have been busy getting to know each other, learning the rules and procedures, and making projects to decorate our room. We are off and running, ready to learn as First Graders! I want to remind you that Lopez Parent Night will be Thursday, August 26th, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in classrooms. This informational night is intended for parents only. It is a time for me to share with you about curriculum, expectations, and schedules. It is also an opportunity for you to hear about and sign up for volunteering this year. Teachers will be presenting classroom information twice, at 5:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 p.m. so those of you who have more than one child at Lopez can plan accordingly. I will be communicating with you through this newsletter every week. It will include information about what we are learning, what is coming up, and important dates to note. It will be in the Friday Folder that will come home at the end of each week. Remember to send the Friday Folder back to school each Monday. If you need to contact me, please feel free to send a note with your child, to my email at ssteinma@psdschools.org, or call my classroom at 488-8830. I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Together we do make a difference! Respectfully,
