Call to Order Meeting Called to Order at 3:04 pm – Quorum was established. II. Approval of the Minutes Motion to approve the minutes as amended for January 27, 2011 made by Chloe Smith. Seconded by Johanna Zamora. Motion passed. Page 1 of 4 IV. Approval of the Agenda Motion to approve the agenda as is for February 10, 2011 made by Chloe Smith. Seconded by Jasmine Hormati. Motion passed. V. New Business 5.1 Approval of ASAAC Conference Motion to approve the following ASO members to attend the ASAAC Conference from March 19th-22nd: Tim Linehan, Dalal Budri, Samuel Barke, Chloe Smith, Nicole Reinertsen, and Jessica Lopez, made by Jessica Lopez. Seconded by Chloe Smith. Jessica Lopez stated that the ASO has not approved the attendees for the ASAAC conference as of yet and that the vote was necessary. Also, that the finance committee had already approved the funds for the event. Motion Passed. 5.2 Removals/Appointments Motion to remove Guadalupe Arias Commissioner of Justice & Humanities made by Jessica Lopez. Seconded by Chloe Smith Motion Passed. Motion to remove Noor Bala Senator of Natural Sciences made by Jessica Lopez. Seconded by Chloe Smith Discussion: Johanna Zamora asked Jessica Lopez if these people knew they were being removed. Jessica replied saying yes and that an email was sent to them. There were no replies to the emails. Motion Passed. Jessica Lopez then stated that Damien McDowell, and Gabriela Lopez were resigning. Motion to appoint Rebekka Asher as Fund Raising Commissoner Chair made by Jameel Younis. Johanna Seconds. Motion Passed. 5.3 Pinkberry Motion to have Pinkberry come to El Camino College made by Chloe Smith, seconded by Nicole Reinertsen. Discussion: Chloe Smith stated that approximately 20% of the proceeds will go to the ASO. Motion Passed. 5.4 March in March Motion to attend March 14 in Sacramento made by Jessica Lopez. Seconded by Chloe Smith Discussion: Lisa Brown wanted to know if the whole school or only ASO would be participating in this event. Jessica replied only ASO. Motion Passed. 5.5 Hands across California This event is a fund raiser to help California Community College students whom are having financial difficulty. Page 2 of 4 There is a paid position to work with this event and to spread information. The student will work 5-10 hours per week, must have a High School Diploma. 2.0 GPA 6 units and have already completed one year of college. Motion to have ASO support the event on April 17th made by Jessica Lopez. Seconded by Chloe Smith. Motion Passed. 5.6 Purchase of Projector The Finance meeting approved the funds for the projector Motion to approve up to $550 from the Rep Fee Technology account # 7256422-00-836115-7670 for the Powerlite 83V+ made by Jasmine Hormati. Seconded by Jessica Lopez Motion Passed 5.7 Public Relations Materials Nicole Reinertsen stated that she was able to have the price of the t-shirts knocked down to $6 per shirt and the total would be about $290 + tax Motion to table 5.7 made by Chloe Smith. Seconded by Vito Iaia Motion Passed. 5.8 SSCCC Motion for ASO to attend the SSCCC on April 1-3 made by Jessica Lopez. Seconded by Chloe Smith. Motion Passed VI. Old Business -None VII. Reports 7.1 ASO Member Reports Chloe Smith reported that she was working with the faculty to find out what will be cut from the schools budget, also that we shouldn’t blame the school for what ever may be lost. Lisa Brown stated that she was able to also get recycling bins for her division council. Jasmine Hormati also reported that the ASO offices now have recycling bins. Jessica Lopez reported that on February 18th at 12:30-1:30 and from 4:15-500pm there will be pictures taken. She wants everyone to be there for the event. Johanna Zamora suggested we meet up to all go together. Also Jessica Lopez stated that we need to publish the new mission statement and make copies of it to advertise the ASO. Chloe Smith then stated that we already have these ready for use. 7.2 ICC Reports -None 7.3 AGS Reports -None 7.4 Committee Reports Chloe Smith reported the Activities Committee is working on a canned food drive Page 3 of 4 Rebekka Asher was very pleased with the progress the Mocktail event is having and was very thankful for everyone’s help this past Tuesday. Many people seemed very interested in event. 7.5 Adviser Reports -None VIII. Public Comments Jessica Lopez wanted to make clear that the Senate meetings need 1/3 of the voting members to have quorum.
