People credited with this unit standard will be able to prepare a silk screen, cut stencils and print a small sign using screen printing. Evidence requirements 1.1 Frame is selected according to design specifications and frame characteristics. 1.2 Suitable mesh size is selected according to design brief. Range 1.3 film deposit, substrate, quality of print required, static control, warp and weft. Mesh is securely attached to frame after stretching. Range space, shape, harmony, variety, contrast, rhythm, unity, symmetry, asymmetry, proportion, balance. 2.2 Graphic elements are selected and positioned to comply with design brief. 2.3 Style of composition complies with design brief. 2.4 Layout complies with design brief. Outcome 3 Produce a stencil. Range hand cut, CAD, photographic. Evidence requirements 3.1 Stencil method is selected according to design and substrate. Range 3.2 Stencils are cut using method suitable for stencil system selected. This unit standard is expiring Range 3.3 wood, glass, plaster, plastic, masonry, metal, vinyl. direct, indirect, capillary. Stencil faults are identified and rectified prior to screen printing. Outcome 4 Screen print a sign Evidence requirements 4.1 Sign is printed to job specifications. 4.2 Register is maintained throughout. 4.3 Faults are identified and rectified after trial print. 4.4 All work is undertaken with regard to safety of personnel in the use of equipment, materials and chemicals. 4.5 Clean up of all equipment, tools and materials used is completed prior to storage.
