Facilities Services Weekly Meeting

Attendance: Kevin K, Loren, Rick, Ray, Pat, Ron, Jessica
1. Current Projects
a. Vangstad
i. Pouring 2 rooms yet this week will have one left.
ii. Electricians still have work, HVAC is continuing to do as much work as they can.
iii. There is more asbestos that needs to be removed now.
b. Student Center Upper Lounge
i. No update.
c. Flood Wall
i. Started to remove trees to the east. Ron had another flood meeting yesterday.
ii. BEK will be back the week of the 20th to move their fiber lines to the other side
of the street.
d. Climate Control Upgrade
i. IT needs to be involved when removing the old system. They will need to work
together with Climate Control.
e. McCoy/Snoey Basketball Court
i. No update. (Ron will contact Vitaliano to see if there are any updates.)
f. Back Alley
i. Still have the water truck lined up but will need more volunteers for the actual
project.
ii. Greg Burchill is constructing a plan to build a double peak roof over where the
state fleet cars would be.
g. Hill slide Waterfall
i. No update.
2. Future Projects
a. Fine Arts Building
i. No updates- Senate has included this project in the emergency bill. If the
conference committee comes together and agrees, we could potentially begin
this project soon.
b. Heat Plant
i. Interviews on 4/16- 4 firms. Senate has included this project in the emergency
bill. If the conference committee comes together and agrees, we could
potentially begin this project soon.
c. Wellness Center
i. Bids came in under budget and the project is a go. There is a meeting this Friday
with the general contractor and the subs.
ii. The force main part of the project will begin May 1st.
1. Ron will talk to Jeff with the City to try and get a date nailed down so we
can being preparations with our staff.

a. Track

i. Met with Gordy about the track- project will be $200,000-$300,000 and at this
time there is no funding available.
ii. There will be another meeting at the end of April (to include the High School) to
discuss a fundraising plan for the track at VCSU. Would like to have funds
available to start the project NEXT May.
b. Field House Addition
i. No update
c. Graichen Gym and Field House Floors
i. No update
d. Circle Hall
i. Working with Greg Burchill to have an awning over that door to make it look
more inviting.
Events
a. Music Contest today on campus
b. This Friday and next Friday are New Student Orientation on campus.
c. April 22nd will be the Spring Job Fair- Kelli will send out a calendar invite for help to set
up over there- we will need to put 30ish tables up and chairs.
d. Reminder of
Safety
a. No update
b. Removal of chemical in the Science building needs to be submitted to Jessica by June 1st.
Rick will work with Teather to check on their list.
FAMIS
a. Patches- upgrades and testing. Jessica is doing testing most of this week.
Crew Updates
a. Maintenance
i. Working to hang blinds in student housing and to put all the windows in out
there. The molding on the window of the back door is bad and needs replacing.
ii. There is mold in a unit that needs removal.
iii. Tubs in Kolstoe need fixing due to cracking. The one Ray fixed last summer
hasn’t leaked again so he will fix these the same way to hopefully prevent again.
iv. Showers need fixing in Snoey. Ray has turned in his estimate and Jessica has
given it to housing.
b. Building Services
i. Set up a reminder of tours the day before. Kelli will do that.
c. Power House
i. No updates
ii. Ron asks to keep working on a list of what they’d like to see in the new Power
House
Other
a. Building Supervisor Position
i. Interviewed two people. Will be setting up a meeting this week with the
committee to get their recommendations.
b. Power House position
i. The wording has been changed on the advertisement to hopefully recruit more
people.
c. University Housing Windows (613)
i. Ray will replace them. Blinds have been ordered and will be replaced as well. If
parts can be ordered, we can look them up.
ii. Kevin K will take measurements and bring them to Jessica and we will research
options to look at standard sizes.
d. Lip Dub
i. Is on April 23 at 4pm. Please accommodate your schedule to be there that day.
It will only take 30 minutes max. We will select people to be the lead singers (lip
syncing) since I didn’t get any volunteers.
