Facilities Services Weekly Update Meeting

Attendance: Ron, Pat, Kevin T, Kevin K, Kelli, Fred, Rick, Doug, Jessica, Keith

1.

Current Projects a.

Vangstad i.

They are preparing to pour the hallway and the remaining classroom hopefully by the end of the week. ii.

Ron will have more of an update after the construction meeting yesterday.

Hoping to come to an agreement with all of the change orders the general contractor has been submitting. iii.

More asbestos was found today that needs to be removed. b.

Student Center Upper Lounge i.

We should receive a drawing from Hepper-Olson by the 24 th . c.

Flood Wall i.

Ron will have more update after his flood meeting yesterday. He will get an updated schedule to share with the group. ii.

Monday Viking Bridge will be blocked off due to the need to move the gas line.

Could be up to 2 weeks potentially. iii.

BEK will be on campus to move their fiber lines- we don’t have a specific time line for that yet. As soon as they are done the street will be closed off to move the lift station. iv.

Will need to alert the bigger shipments and trucks that deliveries can be made to the garage at that point. v.

Parking

1.

Met with Vitaliano, Doug, Ron, Steph, Jessica and Kelli to discuss parking concerns.

2.

Will need to block off areas of parking probably a day at a time. Ron will work with the city to set up days that we plan to do that.

3.

We will pursue gaining land from the city for parking. The lot east of the

Rhoades lot and west of Foss hall. vi.

Trees- will any trees be replanted in between the parking lot and the river? Ron will look into it. d.

Climate Control Upgrade i.

No Update e.

McCoy/Snoey Basketball Court i.

Ron needs to meet with Vitaliano to get an update f.

Back Alley i.

Ron can get the water truck whenever, we just need volunteers. We will go pick up the truck after the meeting. g.

Hill slide Waterfall i.

No Update h.

McFarland 1 st floor Water-proofing

i.

We will hire Kurt Sandman as the structural engineer. Ron is waiting for his proposal. ii.

We would like to have the items cleaned up from this by Friday for orientation.

2.

Future Projects a.

Fine Arts Building i.

The vote in the full senate was 45-2 in favor of it. Now it goes to the committees to discuss with the House. b.

Heat Plant i.

Meeting tomorrow to pick the architectural designer. c.

Wellness Center i.

Force Main Project

1.

They have flagged an area to dig an experimental hole. The City will begin staging- they will be parking their equipment on the grassy area by the tennis court.

2.

Ron and Pat will have a game plan figured out to discuss with the

Maintenance crew. ii.

Schedule/Priorities

1.

We can move the greenhouse, potentially without tearing it down.

2.

Focus on the greenhouse first. Need to call for locate first. Primary lines come down through the alley. We have 10 days to move after the locate.

3.

The contracts have been done for the force main, equipment will be put on the grass area north of the garage.

4.

Ron wants Keith to attend the construction meeting for it. Ron will discuss more with him.

5.

Will dig a pilot hole to make sure they have the right valve. Then it could take around 3 weeks after that.

6.

Put items between the river and the garage.

7.

Wood shed with lawn mowers and such to be moved up by the gas pump to create a kind of fence to block the other items.

8.

Drew will move some of the 4inch pipe on top of the pipe rack. It will be used later as we build barricades to avoid people driving into the river at our lots.

9.

Swanberg will meet Ron this afternoon to make a deal on our steel.

10.

Kevin T said they’ve started moving things this morning already- the parking blocks and such. There has been quite a bit accomplished already.

11.

Park the big mowers and other items on the south side of the storage building. We may need to build a fence in that area.

12.

The weather station- Tyler is working with Bobby Keopplin to maybe put it up by the regional tech center.

There is a band equipment move scheduled for Thursday. b.

Safety a.

Jessica is working on the Risk Management updates and will be doing building inspections as part of that.

FAMIS a.

Testing completed and patches will be installed this weekend- FAMIS WILL BE

UNAVAILABLE. Don’t attempt to log in- just wait until Monday to enter time. b.

There won’t be any functionality changes, it’s all behind the scenes.

7.

Maintenance Updates a.

Ray talked with Casey Olney and they’d like to add on to the visitor’s side dugout and

Ray told them we wouldn’t have time and wouldn’t be able to do it.

8.

Building Services updates a.

Rose asked about the progress of a new linen closet in Kolstoe. Pat will discuss with her.

9.

Power House updates a.

Fred switched all the electric water heaters in the dorms over this weekend. Let him know of any issues.

10.

Other a.

Circle Hall i.

Ron would like to have that done before graduation. b.

Comm. Arts- 4 th floor McFarland i.

No Update c.

Building Supervisor Position i.

Waiting for approval from Cabinet before moving forward to offer the position to the selected candidate. Pat will follow through today with regular procedure for notifications. d.

Power House position i.

Wording was changed to remove fireman from it and that we will change.

Jennifer is emailing a couple people that submitted partial apps to please complete. e.

Tree for celebration i.

Bob Anderson will contact Kevin Tulp on this as well. The tree will be planted for the May 6 th celebration. f.

Chancellor will be here on Monday (4/20) i.

Will look at the heat plant ii.

Will look at the crumbling wall in front of the President’s House
