Facilities Services Weekly Update Meeting

Attendance: Kelli, Jessica, Fred, Ray, Kevin T, Kevin K, Rick, Doug, Pat, Ron
Current Projects
a. Vangstad
i. Should start insulating interior walls in the basement this week. Building 2x6
support walls down the hallway. They will be insulating next week. Concrete,
besides main entrance, is complete. The other contractors continue to move
forward as we continue to work on change orders.
b. Student Center Upper Lounge
i. Meeting scheduled for 5/6 with Student Center staff.
c. Flood Wall
i. College Street will be closed on Thursday to replace the water line in the street.
Will be reopened for Graduation (along with Viking Drive).
ii. BEK will finish transferring their lines tomorrow.
iii. Will need to plan a backup idea for Foss Hall to protect their equipment when
the power is shut off. They have many items that need to be kept in a heat and
humidity controlled area (grand pianos, etc).
iv. Parking
1. Will confirm timeline for parking lot driveways in order to send out an
update email today.
d. Climate Control Upgrade
i. No Update
ii. Fred: if we could ask Climate Control about running a system on the ipad. They
currently run on Java so it’s not compatible.
e. McCoy/Snoey Basketball Court
i. Waiting for budget information
f. Back Alley
i. No update
g. Hill slide Waterfall
i. We will put more rock up by the basin to help drainage. Won’t work on this until
after graduation.
h. McFarland 1st floor Water-proofing
i. No update
2. Future Projects
a. Fine Arts Building
i. No update
b. Heat Plant
i. Asbestos sampling is being done today with ONE and Legend Technologies. JLG
will be the architect for this job.
c. Wellness Center
i. Force Main Project
1. Took down fence Monday and ripped up concrete tennis court
yesterday. There will only be one entrance into the shop (west side)
until the force main project is completed.
2. KLJ is out staking the alleyway currently.
3. Ron: Thank you to everybody for helping move everything out at the
garage. There was a lot to move and they were successful getting it
done.
3. Other Projects
a. Field House 1st Floor Bathroom Ceilings
i. Project completed
b. Track
i. Met with the HS reps and there will be a follow up meeting at the end of the
month. If there are any updates to be made to the track it won’t happen until
next year.
c. Field House Addition
i. Meeting scheduled for 5/8 to discuss with President, Exec Team and coaches
d. Graichen Gym and Field House Floors
i. Have been added to deferred maintenance list
ii. Athletics is looking to use the puzzle-type flooring. Doug has discussed with Jack
that we (FS) do not have the time or people to take it up and put it back more
than once per season.
4. Events (Kelli)
a. Earth Day festival is tonight. Will be moved into Rhoades due to weather.
b. Will work with Pat for set up days/ times for graduation.
5. Safety | Security Crew (Jessica)
a. Working on developing a Blood-borne Pathogen Exposure Plan and a Mass Casualty
procedure.
b. Security Training
i. Will contact consulting company to schedule the training.
6. FAMIS (Jessica)
a. Q & A yesterday
7. Building Services Crew (Rick)
a. No update
8. Maintenance Crew (Ray)
a. Ray will have the number of showers in Kolstoe on Friday.
9. Power House Crew (Fred)
a. All the water heaters are switched over. Air units are on. Student Center is switched
over as well. They will begin to start draining boilers to get prepared for spring
maintenance.
10. Other
a. Circle Hall
i. Drawing of Proposal sent to Campus Beautification Committee. That group is
hoping to meet within the next week or so. The project will not be completed
before graduation.

i. The meeting was rescheduled to 5/8.
Department Openings
i. Building Services- Rhoades (Rick)
1. Closes today. The committee will meet today to go over the scoring
sheets.
ii. Power House position (Fred/Ron)
1. Fred got 4 applicants he received yesterday. The committee will meet
soon to go over them.
Ron will be working with Kevin T to get a gator ordered soon.
Courtney Pedersen received Student Employee of the Month for May! Stop in the office
and congratulate her.
Student Employees for the summer- Jessica has gotten as many as she could from
Career Services but we are still looking to fill one more.
Wayne received our first Anchor Award- congratulate him when you see him next. We
also need 2 more volunteers to be on the committee next month. Please email Kelli if
you are willing to volunteer for it.
Department meeting will be next week. We will take an updated group photo so
EVERYONE should be there.
