Daily Objective: “IWBAT remember how the food chain works.”

How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. Students will learn the unit vocaululary terms (food chain, herbivore, carnivore,
omnivore.)
2. DO FIRST QUESTION: Gallery walk with pictures of the unit words.
3. Students will engage in choral reading and independent reading of the unit story.
4. Students will answer the comprehension questions at the bottom of each page of the
story.
5. Students will work on their leveled worksheets as IP and turn in for a grade.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Exit tickets / participation grade
Checks for Understanding: CFUs at all bridge points/ cold calls/ exit tickets

Materials: Monday folders with the Unique learning book and pictures supports as needed.

How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. DO FIRST QUESTION: “Where do people get food- a cloud or plants and animals?”
2. Students will look at the My Plate graphic and discuss each food group.
3. Students will talk about examples of each food group.
4. Students will be given a chance to sort various foods into the correct food group.
5. Students will engage in a group activity where they will decide if a sample diet is
healthy and includes the correct amount of healthy foods or is unhealthy.
6. Students will turn in their myplate worksheet for a daily grade.

Assessment Methods: Exit ticket
Checks for Understanding: Exit ticket/do first/CFUs throughout lesson

1. DO FIRST: “What can animals find in ecosystems? What can they eat?”
2. Students will discuss and examine new unit terms; habitat, ecosystem and
extinct.”
3. Students will read chapter 4 in their unique unit book, “Dangers in Ecosystems.”
4. Students will answer the questions in the unit associated worksheets and turn in
for a daily grade.
5. Students will present their books to the class and turn them in for a grade.

Daily Objective: “IWBAT to work in a group to create a biome collage.”
TEKS/AP/Standards: Modified curriculum/life science
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. DO FIRST: “Which biome has no trees and polar bears?- the desert or the
tundra?”
2. Students will go through magazines, cut out pictures and create a group biome for
the pre-selected ecosystems.
3. Students will turn in their biome and present them for a participation grade as
well as a major grade.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: observation during group work / presentations.
Checks for Understanding: observations.

Materials: magazines, collage materials.
