Daily Objective: “IWBAT read/listen to a story and describe the word leader.”
“IWBAT name 3 leaders.”
TEKS/AP/Standards: Modified curriculum (English/Govt)
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. Students will learn the unit vocaululary terms (leader, homework, and rule).
2. Students will read the book “Because I said so” from the unique learning curriculum.
3. Students will answer challenge questions throughout the story; who is the leader,
what are Pete’s rules he must follow, etc.
4. Students and teacher will brainstorm leaders they know in their daily lives.
5. Students will review rules from the story and make connections to rules in their own
lives and in the classroom.
6. Teacher will facilitate the learning and formation of the class rules, creating a poster
to place in the classroom.
7. Students will work on their leveled worksheets as IP and turn in for a grade.

Assessment Methods: Exit tickets / participation grade

How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. Students will review leader and rule and the new vocabulary word, vote, will be
introduced and discussed. (why do we vote, have you ever voted? Who can vote?)
2. Read the unique book “Leaders Make the Rules.” Answering questions throughout
the book.
3. Discuss as a group what rules are and how do rules help us?
4. Students will fill out their leveled worksheets and turn in as an exit ticket.

Assessment Methods: Exit ticket
Checks for Understanding: Exit ticket/do first/CFUs throughout lesson

Daily Objective: “IWBAT describe what makes someone a good leader.”
TEKS/AP/Standards: Modified curriculum
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. DO FIRST question; “What makes someone a good leader?”
2. Discussion of different types of leaders and the qualities they might possess.
3. Teacher will identify a leader, students will select adjectives that make that
person a good leader.
4. Students will complete the “What makes me a good leader?” template. (either
written or using picture supports as needed.
5. Students will show their work to the class.
6. Exit ticket: students will write a quality of a good leader on the padlet in the HUB.

3. New vocabulary introduced; president, congress, US postal service.
4. Students will read the book chapter 1 from unique learning
5. Students will answer the worksheets and turn in
6. Students will then participate in the post office practice/letter writing template
from unique learning curriculum.
