Learning Activities: 1. Students will learn the unit vocaululary terms (leader, homework, and rule). 2. Students will read the book “Because I said so” from the unique learning curriculum. 3. Students will answer challenge questions throughout the story; who is the leader, what are Pete’s rules he must follow, etc. 4. Students and teacher will brainstorm leaders they know in their daily lives. 5. Students will review rules from the story and make connections to rules in their own lives and in the classroom. 6. Teacher will facilitate the learning and formation of the class rules, creating a poster to place in the classroom. 7. Students will work on their leveled worksheets as IP and turn in for a grade. Read the unique book “Leaders Make the Rules.” Answering questions throughout the book. 3. Discuss as a group what rules are and how do rules help us? 4. DO FIRST question; “What makes someone a good leader?” 2. Discussion of different types of leaders and the qualities they might possess. 3. Teacher will identify a leader, students will select adjectives that make that person a good leader. 4. Students will complete the “What makes me a good leader?” template. (either written or using picture supports as needed. 5. Students will show their work to the class. 6. Exit ticket: students will write a quality of a good leader on the padlet in the HUB.
