Daily Objective: “IWBAT read/listen to a story and name a rule a school leader might make.”
TEKS/AP/Standards: Modified curriculum (English/Govt)
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. Students will learn the unit vocaululary terms (principal, teacher, superintendent).
2. Students will read the book “Leaders in our schools” from the unique learning
curriculum.
3. Students will answer challenge questions throughout the story
4. Students and teacher will brainstorm who the school leaders they know in their daily
lives are.
5. Students will review rules from the story and make connections to rules in their own
lives and in the classroom.
6. Students will work on their leveled worksheets as IP and turn in for a grade.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Exit tickets / participation grade
Checks for Understanding: CFUs at all bridge points/ cold calls/ exit tickets

Materials: Monday folders with the Unique learning book and pictures supports as needed.

Daily Objective: “IWBAT make a new classroom rule.”

How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. DO FIRST QUESTION: What is one of our class rules?”
2. Discuss as a group what rules are and how do rules help us in the classroom.
3. Students will create rules that fit the following criteria; they keep everyone safe, they
make things fair for everyone and they help people get along with one another.
4. Students will fill out their leveled worksheets and turn in as an exit ticket.
5. Students will review each of the rules for the criteria and determine if it was a good
rule for a classroom.

Assessment Methods: Exit ticket
Checks for Understanding: Exit ticket/do first/CFUs throughout lesson

Learning Activities:
1. DO FIRST question; “How can we help local leaders?”
2. Discussion of what it means to be a volunteer in the community. Gallery walk of
common volunteer jobs.
3. Read the unique book, “working with leaders.”
4. As an exit ticket, students will complete the leveled unique worksheets that
accompany the chapter and turn them in for a daily grade.
