WORKING WONDERS FOR
IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES
The Shakar family left their home in Iraq in the face of
anti-Christian sentiment in the area. They fled to Jordan
where they struggled to survive- as refugees, the
parents couldn’t work and the kinds couldn’t go to
school. With the help of the Office of Refugees, a
ShareLife agency, the family found their way to
Canada. Today, the Shakar couple are working and
productive and their children enjoy going to school and
meeting new friends.
In 2009, ShareLife agencies assisted almost 40,000
newly arrived people in the GTA become productive
and self-sufficient, through settlement programs.

Please give generously. You can work WONDERS!
LIGHTHOUSE CATHOLIC MEDIA CD’S
We often have very good intentions to deepen our
relationship with Jesus during Lent, but life can be so
busy. This Lent, Lighthouse has a number of excellent
titles on Confession, the Passion and Easter. CDs are
$5 each or 5 for $20. There is also an excellent book
from Matthew Kelly, called Rediscovering Catholicism.
It can make a wonderful gift for both someone who
has been away from the Church and those who want to
deepen their faith. And the book only costs $5.

NATIONAL MARCH FOR LIFE
THURSDAY, MAY 12
On May 14, 1969 our government struck
down the existing abortion law. 41 years
later Canada still has no law restricting
abortion.
Every year thousands of
Canadians gather on Parliament Hill for a
peaceful rally to bring attention to the most
profound human right in our society today.
Please join us this year at the March for
Life, with our Bishops, to show our
government that the unborn child must be
protected. Theme this year is “Abortion
Kills a Human Being”.

Share Your Story with the Shepherds’ Trust
The Shepherds’ Trust is about caring for those
who always cared for us- your priests. They were
with us to celebrate our marriage and bless the
exchanging of our vows. They baptized our
children and welcomed them into the faith. They
were by our sides to console and provide strength,
during periods of uncertainty and great sadness.
This is why thousands of parishioners give to the
Shepherds’ Trust. They have a personal story.
And a donation is one way to give thanks for
making a life-long commitment to others. How has
a priest played a role in your life? The Shepherds’
Trust wants you to share your story. Submit your
story by emailing mrogucki@archtoronto.org or by
visiting the website at www.shepherdstrust.org or
mail them to:
